The Namibian government has paid 40 million euros (about 53.7 billion won) with the German government to carry out the ‘Green Hydrogen Initiative,’ a large-scale hydrogen energy development project. The two countries were said to have inked a cooperative pact.

Public Enterprise Minister Hisham Tawfik said in an interview that authorities are in communication with three possible partners as they look for a partner for El Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Co. on the project, which would see 2 billion pounds ($127 million) spent. Production is expected to begin in 2023, with a three-year ramp-up to 20,000 units per year.

Haven Hydrogen Energy was chosen as the best candidate among the bids to establish the country’s first hydrogen project, and the winning business will have the right to build and manage the project for 40 years.
