In a determined move to achieve climate neutrality by 2040, the state of Baden-Württemberg in Germany is discovering that its path to sustainability depends significantly on an earlier and more substantial supply of green hydrogen. Recent findings from a survey conducted by the Ministry of the Environment suggest that the demand for hydrogen is much greater and arrives sooner than previously assumed.

A consortium of French hydrogen energy companies is embarking on a groundbreaking project to test a novel hydrogen power system aboard the Fortuna Crane, an older supply vessel. This project, known as “HydroSil,” aims to pioneer the use of a liquid, silicone-based hydrogen carrier, which has the potential to reshape the way ships store and utilize hydrogen fuel.

In a concerted effort to drive the transition to renewable hydrogen in Europe, leading energy organizations, including the Renewable Hydrogen Coalition, Wind Europe, SolarPower Europe, CAN Europe, and E3G, have penned a joint letter.
