Electric and hydrogen truck pioneer Tevva, has appointed Ian Harnett as the Chairman.
Ian succeeds David Roberts, who will remain on the board as a non-executive director. He has been appointed to Tevva’s Remuneration and Audit Committees.
Tevva’s non-executive directorship was established on 5 August 2021 to support the company’s strategy of expanding its fleet and market presence.
To Tevva, he brings more than 38 years of automotive experience, having been promoted to Director of Purchasing at Jaguar Land Rover in 2009. When Ian was promoted to Executive Director of Human Resources and Global Purchasing in April of this year, he was also given overall responsibility for all of Jaguar Land Rover’s property worldwide.
Previous to that, Ian was responsible for establishing and leading a transition team for Jaguar Land Rover, which had been taken over by Ford Motor Company.
For the next 25 years, Ian held a variety of purchasing and project management positions, including stints with Rover Group’s subsequent owners. He was hired by British Leyland in 1982 and began his career in the Longbridge purchasing department.
Ian was in charge of Honda contracts for a number of years before moving on to BMW/joint Rover’s purchasing team. Following Ford’s acquisition in July 2000, Ian led the Land Rover purchasing team out of BMW ownership.
Over the course of three years in Cologne (Germany), Ian was in charge of purchasing chassis and raw materials for Ford of Europe, Volvo and Jaguar Land Rover.
