University of New Mexico professor chosen for clean hydrogen project

The federal endeavor to lower clean hydrogen costs will include a local professor. University of New Mexico senior lecturer and researcher Jamie Gomez is part of a team that will advance electrolysis technologies to improve clean hydrogen system and component manufacture and recycling.

Gomez said her history, including studying at FAMU-FSU College of Engineering in Tallahassee, Florida, inspires UNM students. Her family’s Hispanic, Portuguese, and Afro-French history and the joint engineering school at historically Black Florida A&M University and largely white Florida State University have “not only shaped my worldview but also my approach to engineering and problem-solving.”
