ZeroAvia has joined forces with UAE-based renewable energy frontrunner, Masdar. The partnership marks a pivotal collaboration aimed at charting the course for hydrogen production and supply, laying the groundwork for a new era of clean flight operations.

As the world seeks innovative solutions to mitigate the environmental impact of air travel, this alliance between ZeroAvia and Masdar holds the promise of transforming aviation with hydrogen-powered technologies.

The cornerstone of this partnership involves the exploration of hydrogen production and supply at strategic locations, with a specific focus on North America and Europe as initial targets. Notably, the ambit extends to evaluating the viability of establishing hydrogen-powered flight operations in the UAE, potentially paving the way for the world’s pioneering hydrogen-powered commercial flights.

Masdar, with its unwavering commitment to renewable energy, is on a resolute mission to produce one million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030. This formidable goal aligns seamlessly with the partnership’s ambition to propel hydrogen-powered aviation to the forefront of sustainable transportation.

ZeroAvia has already showcased the potency of its hydrogen-electric propulsion through a successful test flight campaign of a 9-seater aircraft powered by a hydrogen powertrain. With an eye towards operationalizing this technology, ZeroAvia is collaborating with diverse energy entities to secure a reliable supply of hydrogen for airline operators. The ambitious timeline aims to make hydrogen-powered commercial flights a reality by 2025.

Val Miftakhov, the Founder and CEO of ZeroAvia, emphasizes the pivotal role of robust renewable energy infrastructure in propelling the aviation industry towards cleaner skies. The partnership with Masdar stands as a testament to their shared vision of realizing emissions-free aviation, ensuring that passengers can soar without leaving a carbon footprint.

Mohammed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, echoes the sentiment of innovation and partnership in advancing sustainable aviation. As champions of clean energy, Masdar envisions leveraging green hydrogen’s potential to usher in a future where aviation seamlessly coexists with environmental responsibility.

The partnership between ZeroAvia and Masdar heralds a new chapter in aviation history, one where hydrogen’s potential as an aviation fuel takes center stage.
