On Sakhalin Island, Rusatom Overseas JSC (a ROSATOM business), KAMAZ PTC, Far East and Arctic Development Corporation JSC, and Sakhalin Region Development Corporation JSC signed an agreement of understanding on the development and use of hydrogen technologies in the transportation industry.

The parties will explore collaborating on the construction of a hydrogen fleet. They’ll also talk about implementing environmentally friendly hydrogen fuel cell transportation on Sakhalin’s territory.
Igor Nosov, Director General of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, Andrey Medvedev, Director General of the Sakhalin Region Development Corporation, Irek Gumerov, Deputy Director General – Director for Development of KAMAZ PTC, and Anton Moskvin, Vice President for Marketing and Business Development of Rusatom Overseas JSC, all signed the memorandum.

“ROSATOM, in collaboration with leading Russian and international companies in the hydrogen technology industry, is actively involved in the development of hydrogen fuel cell-based transportation projects in Russia’s Far East and other regions. We believe that hydrogen technology in passenger and freight transportation is particularly promising, with the potential to significantly contribute to the Sakhalin Region’s decarbonization ambitions. Without a doubt, the involvement of such a major player in the project as KAMAZ will provide a new impetus to the development of the hydrogen economy on the island, where the first significant projects of this type are expected to be implemented in the near future “Rusatom Overseas JSC Vice President for Marketing and Business Development Anton Moskvin said.

“One of our company’s goals is to diversify output as much as possible, which means we’re always looking for new possibilities. KAMAZ consistently monitors worldwide mechanical engineering trends, including those in hydrogen transportation, when developing its product line. Despite the fact that this is a new trend, KAMAZ, with its extensive expertise and capabilities in the creation of innovative vehicles, is ready to collaborate with market leaders and big businesses, confident in the effectiveness of such collaboration. We are pleased to support the development of environmentally friendly vehicles in Russian regions and to share our company’s best practices with our partners in order to help them implement their business projects, gain new experience, and expand their capabilities “KAMAZ PTC’s Director of Development, Irek Gumerov, stated.
