Tinne Van der Straeten wants Europe to pick up its game when it comes to green hydrogen certification.
This is a climate-neutral energy source that may be used as a fuel in industries when switching to electricity is not an option. However, a thorough certification is required to ensure that it is truly “green.”
The minister argued for a faster certification process. “The earlier Europe can certify green hydrogen, the faster we can jumpstart the molecule’s breakthrough, and the more Belgium can leverage its strengths as a European energy center,” she says.
“Our nation has a lot of benefits because of its central location in Europe and well-developed transportation infrastructure,” Van der Straeten notes.
