The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy will exhibit hydrogen, natural gas, and low-carbon energy solutions at this year’s Gastech, a significant international energy conference, which will be held in Milan, Italy.
The UAE’s goal of attaining net-zero emissions by 2050 will be supported by the DoE delegation at the event, according to a statement released on Sunday by the Abu Dhabi Media Office.
According to the statement, representatives from the organization will look into potential trade and export prospects and assist with any future energy-related contracts for Abu Dhabi.
Additionally, officials will work to comprehend how the world’s energy needs are changing and determine how the emirate might help its partners with supply and demand issues.
Awaidha Al Marar, chairman of the DoE, stated that by attending the 50th anniversary of Gastech, “we will be able to exhibit the efforts we have done to promote the future of clean energy and sustainable living in Abu Dhabi.”
This is a chance to show how the Department of Energy is using nuclear power and renewable energy to lessen its reliance on fossil fuels while also learning more about how our international allies are utilizing natural gas, hydrogen, and low-carbon alternatives in their own countries.
Delegates to the DoE will also look for information on how the global community is fostering new low-carbon energy technologies and solutions through legislation, funding, research, and development.
The UAE was the first nation in the area to pledge to have net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. It also has goals to lower its power generation’s carbon footprint by 70% and to boost the share of sustainable energy sources from 25% to 50%.
As part of its net-zero 2050 policy, the nation intends to invest Dh600 billion in sustainable energy projects.
In addition, the UAE has made a number of steps to boost green investments as it gets ready to host the Cop28 conference in 2023. It has pledged $400 million to help underdeveloped countries make the switch to sustainable energy.
The DoE’s involvement in conferences like Gastech 2022, according to the statement, “will further strengthen the UAE’s commitment to sustainability while speeding the global community’s decarbonization path.”
