The green hydrogen investment platform Hy2gen has closed a €200 million funding round. The funds will be used to build facilities in a variety of locations, including Europe, to produce green hydrogen-based fuels (also known as “e-fuels”) for maritime and ground transportation, aviation, and industrial applications. RWE and Neptune Energy signed a Joint Development Agreement to develop the offshore green hydrogen demonstration project “H2opZee” before 2030. H2opZee is a demonstration project aimed at constructing a 300 to 500 megawatt (MW) electrolyzer capacity far out in the Dutch North Sea to produce green hydrogen using offshore wind. After that, the hydrogen will be transported to land via an existing pipeline. With a capacity of 10 to 12 gigawatts (GW), the pipeline is already capable of bringing green hydrogen production to gigawatt scale in the North Sea. TECO2030 signs strategic cooperation agreement with Al Misehal Group in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The strategic cooperation agreement aims to result in a Joint Venture between the parties with the purpose of conducting business which will reduce environmental impact in the KSA. Hydrogen Technologies (HT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Jericho Energy Ventures, has signed memorandums of understanding with two major North American food companies to investigate the use and integration of its DCCTM Hydrogen Boiler to provide zero-emission steam for use in food processing and commercial facilities. The collaboration will start with a few facilities, with the goal of eventually rolling out the DCCTM boilers across both companies. Hyoffwind, a Belgian consortium, has agreed to design and build a green hydrogen production unit in Zeebrugge with John Cockerill and BESIX. This agreement marks a new milestone for Hyoffwind, which is leading the way in the development of hydrogen technology in accordance with the Flemish, Belgian, and European hydrogen strategies. Advent Technologies, a leader in the fuel cell and hydrogen technology space, has signed new contracts for the delivery of electrochemistry components with manufacturers of clean power generation and energy storage solutions. The contracts, worth a total of $2.2 million, were signed in the fourth quarter of 2021. Electrochemistry components were first delivered by Advent in the fourth quarter of 2021, and deliveries are expected to continue through September 2022. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer announced a major push to make New York State the home of the nation’s first Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub, as envisioned by the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The city of St Helens has ordered ten hydrogen-powered refuse collection trucks from Faun Bluepower. It is the first municipality to use the vehicles, which are manufactured in the United Kingdom in collaboration with Daimler Trucks. The Faun Bluepower is a hydrogen/electric hybrid vehicle that drives with an electric motor and charges the battery with a hydrogen fuel cell while driving. When compared to a fully electric truck, the setup reduces the number of batteries required by 30%.
