European Commission has approved the transaction between Vestas Wind Systems (Vestas) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) whereby Vestas will acquire MHI’s shares in the MHI Vestas Offshore Wind (MVOW) joint venture, and MHI will acquire 2.5 percent in Vestas and be nominated to a seat in Vestas’ board of directors. Vestas has secured a 40 MW order for the Nowy Tomysl project from SPV Sevivon Windpark 2, a subsidiary of PNE AG. The U.S. Department of Energy has provided $35 million in funding for 11 projects as part of the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy’s (ARPA-E) Submarine Hydrokinetic And Riverine Kilo-megawatt Systems (SHARKS) program.
