Broad Reach Power has acquired the 25-megawatt (MW)/100-megawatt-hour (MWh) front-of-the-meter Cascade Energy Storage project located outside of Stockton, California from a subsidiary of Enel. SSE Renewables and Equinor, the joint venture partners co-developing the 3.6GW Dogger Bank wind farm in the North Sea, have signed 15-year offtake Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for the first two phases of the world’s largest offshore wind farm. JDR Cables has contracted the multi-purpose offshore vessel Olympic Commander equipped with a 28 meter-long Safeway Seagull type walk-to-work gangway system, has been deployed for the efficient transfer of people and goods during a maintenance campaign at the Sandbank wind farm in the German North Sea. The presence of a smart Safeway A-Frame construction at the boom tip of the Seagull gangway also allows the operator to switch from People Transfer Mode to Cargo Transfer Mode, activating a lift capacity of 1,000 kg. SSE Renewables has hired Pert-Bruce Construction to carry out the works on the Seagreen wind farm operations and maintenance base to be located at Montrose Port. Located at the Port’s South Quay, the base will include an operations building, repurposed warehouse, communications tower, and a pontoon for crew transfer vessels travelling to the Seagreen wind farm site 27km off the Angus coast. Work on the operations building and repurposed warehouse is scheduled to take around a year and will all be carried out by Pert-Bruce and several local subcontractors. Submarine High-fidelity Active-monitoring of Renewable energy Cables (SHARC) aims to improve the operational efficiency of offshore renewable energy generation by addressing failure management of critical subsea infrastructure, in this case submarine cables. Boralex’s subsidiary, Boralex US Solar CIA, has entered into binding agreements with Centaurus Renewable Energy (CRE) and other investors to acquire their controlling interests in seven solar plants, located in the United States, for a purchase price of $216.5 million. NKT has entered into a Preferred Supplier Agreement (PSA) as main contractor for delivery and installation of high-voltage DC on- and offshore export cable systems to an European offshore wind farm. The potential order for NKT will comprise the manufacture and delivery of more than 500 km total production length of 320 kV DC offshore export power cables, accessories as well as installation by the cable-laying vessel NKT Victoria.
