The governors of Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia are collaborating to advance offshore wind projects in the region and promote the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic United States as a hub for offshore wind energy and industry. The creation of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic Regional Transformative Partnership for Offshore Wind Energy Resources (SMART-POWER) provides a framework for the three states to cooperatively promote, develop, and expand offshore wind energy and the accompanying industry supply chain and workforce. Cleantech Solar has executed a long-term solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with Osotspa Public Company, for a combined 3 MW solar PV system on Osotspa’s five factories across Thailand. The rooftop solar PV systems will be financed, designed, installed, maintained and operated by Cleantech Solar for the full term of the agreement. The project is in line with Osotspa’s corporate social and environmental responsibility to reduce environmental impact by the company’s operations. The PV systems are expected to generate about 4,300 MWh of clean electricity in the first year, which is equivalent to offsetting over 2,400 tones of CO2 emissions.…

Eco Wave Power has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with MSMART Future Technology, as the basis for the development of a 50MW wave energy array in Vietnam. In the first phase, the Eco Wave Power engineering team, will perform an in-depth feasibility study, at the selected site in Vietnam. The study will include the installation of a wave measurement buoy, for collection of the site’s wave climate. Once studies are completed to the satisfaction of the parties, they will work towards the establishment of a joint venture company in Vietnam for the development of a 50MW wave energy array.…

The Offshore Wind Growth Partnership (OWGP) has released its largest funding call to date, totaling £1.5 million for Development Grants to be awarded to supply chain companies. Development Grants of between £75K and £500K are available for capital and operational expenditure on projects that will unlock significant growth potential in UK content, jobs and export opportunities. This latest tranche of funding builds on the £1M already allocated across three smaller funding competitions launched in the last 12 months. Ørsted has made final investment decision for the 298 MW Haystack wind project in Wayne County, Nebraska. Situated adjacent to Ørsted’s 230 MW Plum Creek wind farm, Haystack will utilize existing interconnection infrastructure in SPP North. U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy (FE) has selected four projects for cost-shared research and development under the funding opportunity announcement (FOA), DE-FOA-0002180, Design Development and System Integration Design Studies for Coal FIRST Concepts. When fully negotiated and awarded, it is estimated that approximately $80 million in federal funding will be provided to these projects. DOE’s early stage research for the Coal FIRST Initiative supports the development of 21st century electricity and hydrogen energy plants that have net-zero carbon emissions. Fugro has used its integrated augmented-reality solutions to support Jan De Nul Group’s offshore installation of two monopiles for the first two offshore wind turbine foundations in US federal waters. By combining a range of vision technologies, Fugro ensured that the project’s challenging installation tolerances were met in full and both monopiles at the Coastal Virginia offshore wind project off the east coast of the US were safely positioned. Strong supply chain interest and demand has led to the flagship regional Fit 4 Offshore Renewables New Anglia (F4OR NA) programme securing funding to support a further five regional companies, in addition to the 10 previously announced. Ten companies from the Norfolk and Suffolk region initially won out against fierce competition to secure a place in the first intake of the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult’s F4OR NA Programme.
