By the end of October, researchers hoping to recruit 300 volunteers for a world-first project to use hydrogen to power homes in Fife anticipate having enough participants. Anyone who joins the H100 initiative will be the first in the world to use hydrogen with no carbon footprint in the kitchen. Free hydrogen-ready boilers and cooking appliances, as well as free maintenance, will be provided to customers in the trial area of Levenmouth for a period of four years. Although less than one hundred people are thought to be interested so far, at least 270 families are required for it to…

Toyota Mirai, a groundbreaking hydrogen car introduced by the Japanese automaker eight years ago and now in its second generation, underwent its first Italian test drive at the ENEA Casaccia Research Center. The H2 Summer School, hosted by the ENEA Department of Energy Technologies and Renewable Sources and the Sapienza University of Rome and the Italian Association of Chemical Engineering, provided instruction for fifty individuals, who then took part in the first Italian test drive of the hydrogen car. The air intake of the Toyota Mirai features a special catalyst filter that can trap micro contaminating dusts such PM 2.5…
Both Korea and Uruguay are committed to working together to develop a reliable clean hydrogen supply chain that integrates hydrogen mobility technology. Since hydro and wind power account for more than 80% of renewable energy generation in Uruguay, it is possible for the country to produce green hydrogen. Due to Korea’s extensive knowledge and experience in hydrogen vehicle technology and supply, it is anticipated that Korean firms would contribute to the growth of hydrogen mobility advocated by the Uruguayan government. Greenhouse gas emission reduction strategies, such as increased use of renewable energy sources and joint development of electric vehicles, were…
H2X Global, an Australian hydrogen fuel-cell automobile manufacturer, has begun European vehicle validation and verification testing of its Warrego ute in the Netherlands, with the goal of starting sales in Europe within the next nine months. H2X Global, situated in Melbourne, Australia, has lofty goals of introducing hydrogen FCEV commercial cars all over the world. Technology demonstrator the Warrego will be followed by hydrogen-powered delivery van and taxi variants in 2025, according to the company. It was anticipated that H2X Warrego ute deliveries will begin in April of 2022. However, problems in the supply chain prevented this from happening. Built…
Shinhan Bank, Korea Midland Power, LS Electric, Aegis Asset Management, and Elekseed have formed a partnership and entered into a business agreement with the Queensland Government of Australia to launch a pilot project for the commercial generation of green hydrogen. Through this agreement, the consortium in which Shinhan Bank has a stake will work with the Queensland State Government to implement the ‘H-REP (Hydrogen Renewable Energy Park)’ pilot project in Queensland, Australia, investing a total of AUD 20 million. H-REP proposes to construct a solar power plant with a capacity of 3MW (megawatts), and utilize this power to run the…
An undisclosed European automaker has placed an order with ElringKlinger and Plastic Omnium’s fuel cell joint venture, EKPO Fuel Cell Technologies, for the new development of a bipolar plate. Because EKPO is going to create and send prototypes to the carmaker for use in a fuel-cell car. It is fair to say that the bipolar plates are the lifeblood of an FC stack and are primarily responsible for its efficacy. This innovation was created for the customer’s future stack iterations. The work is aimed at achieving the highest power density in the most space-efficient form. EKPO beat out rival bidders…
Draft guidelines for a Clean Hydrogen Production Standard (CHPS) were published by the US Department of Energy (DOE). The regulations were drafted to accommodate Section 40315 of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). Due to the fact that the CHPS is not a regulatory criteria, the DOE may not insist that any future projects receive funding if they fail to meet it. Hydrogen distribution centers receiving BIL funding, however, would be expected to “demonstrably aid attainment” of the CHPS by reducing emissions as much as feasible across the supply chain. The merit review criteria that will be utilized to choose projects…
Hydrogen storage in depleted gas fields is an area of joint research between CGG and the University of Edinburgh’s GeoEnergy research group. To compete with fossil fuels like natural gas, hydrogen will need large-scale, low-cost, and dependable hydrogen storage solutions. The new group is exploring the feasibility of reusing depleted gas reserves for this purpose. To model the variety of the depleted gas fields’ underground geological reservoirs, they plan to work together. That way, they can see which ones have the best potential as hydrogen storage locations. Additional options, such as the utilization of carbon dioxide and other alternative cushion…
Both H2 Green Steel and GreenIron H2 are committed to reducing emissions and increasing circularity at H2 Green Steel’s plant in Boden, which is located in Northern Sweden. GreenIron H2 is a Swedish firm that aims to efficiently and cheaply reduce metal oxides to pure metals without using carbon dioxide. H2 Green Steel’s iron waste and residuals will be recycled through this hydrogen-based CO2-reduction technology. GreenIron H2 will install its furnaces at the H2 Green Steel plant in Boden, collecting residuals such oxidized scale and production waste for further processing with green hydrogen per GreenIron H2’s patented method. The end…
By 2025, India will have eight gigawatts of electrolyser capacity, making it one of the world’s most significant industrial hubs. For a grand total of 8 GW, there are now seven distinct industrial projects involving a total of nine companies. And by 2025, four 1GW plants will be up and running. By the end of 2022, the number of electrolyser factories in India is expected to be nearly as large as the global average. The 8GW would be a sizeable fraction of the 26GW of gigawatt-scale electrolyser installations announced to far around the world. There has been a recent uptick…
