8minute Solar Energy (8minute) has executed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Clean Power Alliance (CPA). The 400-megawatt (300 MWac) Rexford 1 Solar & Storage Center in Tulare County includes 180 MW/540 megawatt-hours (MWh) of energy storage, which means it will reliably deliver renewable energy to the grid day or night or on cloudy days. When it becomes operational in 2023, Rexford will provide enough energy for over 370,000 Californians, making it not only the largest solar-plus-storage project for CPA, but also the largest for any community choice aggregator (CCA) to date. D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI) has signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) for the Rocket and Horseshoe Solar projects in Utah. The projects, expected to total 155 MWac, will support Facebook’s Eagle Mountain Data Center, through PPAs with Rocky Mountain Power. Both projects are owned and being developed by DESRI. Rocket Solar is an 80 MWac solar facility to be built outside of Corinne in Box Elder County, Utah. EDF Renewables and Mitsui & Co. have started the construction work of the first phase of the Taza wind farm, located around 15 km north-west of Taza in northern Morocco. Boralex and Auchan Retail France have signed a corporate PPA through which Auchan Retail France will locally consume green energy produced by two wind farms owned and operated by Boralex in the Hauts-de-France region for a period of three years, starting January 1, 2021. Siemens Gamesa has chosen Green Hydrogen Systems (GHS) as the electrolysis partner for its pioneering wind-to-hydrogen project in Denmark. The project will involve a 3 MW Siemens Gamesa wind turbine that feeds electricity into a GHS electrolyzer, which then uses the electricity to split water into its constituent parts, hydrogen and oxygen.
