Vestas has received a 67 MW order for the Grönhult project in Sweden.
SolarPower Europe has launched a new workstream on Renewable Hydrogen. The workstream will strive to develop market and business intelligence on solar-to-hydrogen and renewable hydrogen, identifying the most promising business models and the means of accelerating the cost-reduction of electrolysis-based production. It will develop recommendations from the solar industry, to promote renewable hydrogen in key European policy files such as the upcoming revision of the Renewable Energy Directive (RED II) and revision of the EU State Aid Guidelines for Energy and Environment (EEAG). “On the road to achieving climate neutrality in the EU, renewable hydrogen is the missing puzzle piece,…
The proposed new Freeport East, centred on the ports of Felixstowe and Harwich, will turbo-charge the development of an offshore wind hub according to the partnership of businesses and public authorities backing the bid. “The UK is the world’s largest market for the development and deployment of offshore wind and Freeport East sits right at its heart. The southern North Sea is the most densely populated area for offshore wind projects, home to 52% of the UK’s entire operational fleet with more developments planned.“Securing Freeport status will help attract additional investment in this vital sector, helping to regenerate an area…
Enegix will set up the world’s largest green hydrogen plant in Brazil.
Vestas’s first EnVentus order in the Eastern Europe region has been secured in Ukraine.
DNV GL will provide technical due diligence for PV plants in Chile.
EDP Renewables has, through its fully owned subsidiary EDP Renewables North America, closed a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Under the PPA the company will sell the energy produced by a wind project totaling 204 MW. In detail, the project is located in the U.S. state of Indiana and is expected to start operations in 2023. With this new agreement, EDPR has now 2.3 GW of total capacity secured in the U.S. set to be operational from 2021 onwards.
The lab of Shu Hu, assistant professor of Chemical & Environmental Engineering at the Yale University’s School of Engineering & Applied Science, has found that photocatalysis, using particles in water, is a promising technology for generating fuels from sunlight. Water-splitting systems – which break water down to hydrogen and oxygen – need semiconductor materials with narrow bandgaps, which efficiently converts solar energy to chemical energy. While these materials can easily capture sunlight, they all corrode under illumination via self-reduction or self-oxidation. It’s a challenge that researchers have spent more than a half-century trying to solve. Strategies to protect these materials tend…
Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has, on behalf of the Australian Government, provided $1.49 million in funding to Melbourne battery technology company Relectrify to advance its commercial scale battery and inverter system using repurposed second-life electric vehicle (EV) batteries. Relectrify is launching a 36 kW / 120 kWh commercial scale modular battery product, utilizing second-life electric vehicle battery packs. The $3.3 million project will see Relectrify finalize development and undertake certifications ahead of the roll out of 20 battery units across commercial and industrial customer applications throughout Australia. Relectrify’s advanced BMS+Inverter battery control technology can boost lifetime and performance of…
GKN Hydrogen has joined the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA) as an executive member. GKN Hydrogen provides the whole value chain from R&D, engineering, manufacturing and sales service for the safest hydrogen energy storage solutions on the market. The company’s Hy2Green smart energy cube technology is a CO2 neutral energy system using renewable energy sources. It generates green hydrogen, and stores it in a very safe manner and compact as metal hydride. The green hydrogen can be used directly for the mobility sector or can be reconverted into electricity and heat for buildings, industry and/or back-up power systems.…
