As part of an Indo-Pacific supply chain for renewable hydrogen, the Japanese government has agreed to fund a pilot project co-developed by Maurubeni Corp to export the zero-emission fuel from South Australia. Green hydrogen will be produced from South Australia’s abundance of large-scale wind and solar, which will be showcased at the COP26 in Glasgow in an event co-hosted by South Australian and Japanese government ministers. Project development and site selection are currently being carried out in collaboration between Marubeni and the South Australian government, according to reports. Renewable hydrogen production and export in South Australia could serve as a…
BeHydro has won the Blue Innovation Award in category corporate during the Blue Innovation Awards organized by the Blue Cluster. Tim Berckmoes CEO of ABC mentioned the importance of a switch to zero carbon emissions in marine, railway and power-industries. “Today, we want to show that our dual-fuel engine technology is successful and operational. We replace diesel by hydrogen with 85%. It means that we are ready to reduce CO2 emissions by 85% in comparison to yesterday. The hydrogen future is now!”
As part of their joint efforts to develop a hydrogen engine for two-wheeled vehicles, Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Yamaha Motor have begun preliminary research. Honda Motor and Suzuki Motor Corp. are expected to join them in the future. The four Japanese automakers plan to work together to investigate the possibility of carbon neutrality in two-wheeled vehicles powered by internal combustion engines. With this framework in place, the four companies will be able to maintain a distinct line between cooperation and competition. As of 2010, Kawasaki has been developing technologies for producing, transporting, and using hydrogen throughout the entire supply chain…
EPRI, Shell, City of Houston, Greentown Labs and NYU Urban Future Lab launch hydrogen accelerator
The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Shell, and the City of Houston, in partnership with Greentown Labs and the Urban Future Lab at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, are announcing the Low-Carbon Hydrogen Accelerator (LCHAA) (LCHA). Startups developing low-carbon hydrogen production, improving hydrogen storage and distribution, or developing new business models for managing hydrogen supply chains are encouraged to apply to the LCHA. In the RFP, you’ll find more information about the specific technology areas of interest. As part of Greentown’s flagship corporate partnerships accelerator program, Greentown Launch, LCHA is Greentown’s third partnership with UFL. During this six-month-long, highly…
Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) urged the shipping industry as a whole to embrace a net zero 2040 target while providing technical leadership in large shipping to support the target.
One of Australia’s leading companies, Xodus, and the metals manufacturing company Unique Metals, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that aims to help the country achieve its goal of net-zero emissions. The fabrication of green metals using HyMetals is a first for Australia. On-site mobility is provided by forklifts as well as on-site power generation from hydrogen and oxygen production for laser cutting machinery and use. Xodus and Unique Metals will work together to design the project and examine the company’s current emissions profile and the potential impact of the proposal as part of the MoU. Rooftop solar energy…
Fortescue Future Industries and Papua New Guinea team up for green hydrogen development
Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) is partnering with Papua New Guinea (PNG), one of the most renewable energy-rich countries in the world, to develop multiple large-scale green energy and green hydrogen projects. FFI’s Papua New Guinea Fortescue Future Industries Ltd, and the State of Papua New Guinea today signed a Master Development Agreement (MDA) that will enable FFI to undertake feasibility studies to develop up to seven hydropower projects and 11 geothermal energy projects in PNG. These projects would generate renewable electricity for the purpose of producing green hydrogen and green ammonia, creating a significant new domestic energy and export industry…
Kimberley Clean Energy (KCE) and Patriot Hydrogen have signed an MOU to provide 75 of Patriot’s P2H modular power generation units. Patriot Hydrogen is working with Singaporean company CAC-H2, which has purchased a 25 percent stake in the company, in order to expand its capabilities. Patriot Hydrogen’s Waste to Energy Plants – Patriot to Hydrogen (P2H) units are supported by this. Broome-based KCE has inked an MOU for 75 P2H units in WA’s Kimberley area. A clean future for the Kimberley region will be supported by KCE’s ambitions to create baseload renewable energy, green hydrogen, and fertilizers. Kilto Station, which…
At the COP26 climate change conference in Glasgow, clean energy solutions developer Unitrove presented the world’s first liquid hydrogen bunkering station for fueling zero-emission ships.
In an effort to help the aviation sector meet its target of zero carbon emissions by 2050, Embraer has unveiled a new family of concept aircraft. To better understand energy harvesting, storage, thermal management, and their applications for sustainable aircraft propulsion, the company has teamed with a worldwide consortium of engineering universities, aeronautical research institutes, and small and medium-sized industries. Concept aircraft of diverse sizes and propulsion technology make up the family’s four members: electric, hydrogen fuel cell, dual-fuel gas turbine and hybrid-electric aircraft. The technical and commercial viability of each aircraft is being assessed. Luis Carlos Affonso, Embraer’s Sr.…
