Nexans Solar Technologies (NST) has signed its first contract to design, manufacture and supply KEYLIOS Solar Trackers for Reden. Over 800 of the solar trackers will be installed at Reden’s next four solar parks, located in the southwest of France, with a combined peak capacity of 26 megawatt (MW). The project will be performed in partnership with OMEXOM ENR SO, the subsidiary of Vinci group specializing in renewable energies and based in Toulouse, who are in charge of the construction of the parks, including the assembly and installation of the trackers. Iberdrola, through its subsidiary Ailes Marines, has awarded Navantia-Windar UTE consortium a contract for the construction of 62 jackets and piling for the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm, off the coast of Brittany. The contract, worth €350 million, is the largest offshore wind contract for Navantia-Windar to date. The agreement comprises the fabrication of the jackets by Navantia at its Fene facilities and the piling by Windar at its Avilés site. The final assembly of all component parts will be completed at the Galician shipyard. The contract between Iberdrola and Navantia-Windar will help create 2,000 direct jobs. H2Tec, clean energy solutions provider, has been selected to perform key upgrades to the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC)’s hydrogen production plant in Orkney. H2Tec, a subsidiary of Logan Energy, will perform the program upgrades as part of the €11.7 million project, ‘Integrating Tidal Energy into the European Grid (ITEG)’, funded by Interreg North-West Europe. KB Home has become the first home builder to offer SunPower’s new OneRoof product at its Ashbury new-home community in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2011, KB Home partnered with SunPower to introduce the home builder’s first all-solar community. Iberdrola has launched a friendly takeover of 100 percent of the Australian renewables company Infigen Energy, in a A$ 840 million (€510 million) transaction. Heerema’s Heavy Lift Vessel Aegir has experienced a dropfall incident during jacket installation for the Changhua offshore wind farm in Taiwan. The incident took place on June 15, at 16.42 local time, Heerema informed. According to the company, the piling frame and pin pile have only suffered minimal damage, while there were no injuries nor the environmental impact. Work had just started on this project, and currently, foundation installation has been temporarily paused pending investigation. Wärtsilä’s has received a contract to design and equip two new zero-emissions ferries, to be built for Norwegian operator Boreal Sjö at Holland Shipyards in the Netherlands. The Wärtsilä ship design is tailored to the operating and route profiles of the two double-ended shuttle ferries. Included in the design concept is the optimization of energy consumption. In addition to the design, for each ferry Wärtsilä will supply the thruster motors, batteries, onboard and shore-based battery charging equipment, the back-up generators, and various electrical systems. Aqueos Corporation has completed a diving contract for support of the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) generation project development in the U.S. Aqueos deployed an IMCA compliant diving system and personnel onto a 175′ class lift boat to support the work. Solar Steel, a division of the Gonvarri Industries, will supply three new projects in Japan with its RackSmarT fixed solar structure. The projects are 65MW, 15MW and 14MW in size, respectively located in Gunma, Fukushima and Tottori prefectures. The sum of these projects will generate enough energy to supply 47,600 homes. With these projects, Solar Steel will have supplied 13 photovoltaic plants in Japan totaling 383 MW of fixed structure. Sunrun and Southern California Edison (SCE) have joined forces to launch one of the first residential energy storage virtual power plants in the United States.
