MRECo personnel are working with Coastal Ocean Vision scientist, Dr. Scott Gallager, on installation of the Continuous Particle Imaging Classification System (CPICS) on the Bourne tidal test site structure in Cape Cod Canal. Last week, the team installed the communications and battery system on the platform. In order to load the CPICS sensor, the lifting arm had to be powered by a larger generator, which was not on hand. Scottish Borders Council’s (SBC) planning committee has approved plans jointly submitted by Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) Offshore Wind Limited and Eyemouth Harbour Trust for an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) building for the offshore wind farm in Eyemouth. The planning permission is for a new, three storey, 1,040 square metre main building and a two storey, 538 square metre storage warehouse. The O&M building, designed by Corstorphine + Wright Architects, will house the office, warehousing and staff welfare facilities required to support the servicing of NnG, jointly owned by EDF Renewables and ESB, once the wind farm is operational. Montrose Port Authority and SSE Renewables have finalized plans for the operations and maintenance base for Seagreen offshore wind farm, following consultation with the local community and other port users. The 1,075MW Seagreen project is located 27 kilometres off the coast of Angus. Ailes Marines the Iberdrola company in charge of the development, construction, installation and operation of the offshore wind farm of the bay of Saint-Brieuc has awarded the joint venture Iemants, a subsidiary of Smulders, and ENGIE Solutions the contract to construct an offshore substation for the Saint Brieuc offshore wind farm. Foresight Solar, a fund investing in a diversified portfolio of ground-based solar PV assets in the UK and internationally, has acquired its first solar asset in Spain.
