French independent power producer HDF Energy anticipates its green hydrogen power plant in Namibia, the continent’s first, to begin producing electricity by 2024, according to a company executive. Once completed, the N$3.1 billion (R3.1 billion) Swakopmund project will provide clean energy power 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, improving electricity supplies in the Southern African nation that imports almost 40% of its power from South Africa. Namibia, one of the sunniest and least densely populated countries in the world, aspires to utilize its tremendous potential for solar and wind energy to manufacture green hydrogen and establish itself as…

A hydrogen pilot will soon be launched in Lochem, Gelderland. This is the first time that hydrogen has been brought into existing, occupied homes via the natural gas network. This is one of the reasons why the grid manager Liander is training technicians to work with hydrogen in a safe and professional manner. Last month, the first gas engineers from the network operator Liander passed their exams to be able to work with hydrogen. This is an important step towards a pilot that will soon be launched in Lochem. There, starting in October, some of the homes in the Berkeloord…

Woking-based Linde has developed the first hydrogen refueling system for passenger trains in the world. Linde constructed, owns, and manages the new infrastructure that will refuel 14 hydrogen-powered passenger trains in Bremervorde, Germany. Each refueling will allow the train to go 1,000 kilometers without emitting carbon dioxide. Its overall capacity of around 1,600kg of hydrogen per day places it among the largest hydrogen refueling systems ever constructed. The location has also been engineered to accommodate future green hydrogen generation on-site. Linde’s President of Region Europe West, Veerle Slenders, stated, “Linde is dedicated to making a substantial contribution to decarbonizing transport…
