The Netherlands is making the transition to a more environmentally friendly energy supply.

The goal of the coalition of 40 partners is to take advantage of an $8 billion funding program from the United States Department of Energy.

Cummins Inc. will establish a new Powertrain Test Facility on its Darlington, United Kingdom, location to help expedite the transition to cleaner, next-generation power technologies focused on greenhouse gas reduction and air quality improvement. The new facility’s ground preparation work has begun, with the first phase of the £14 million investment set to begin operations in May 2023. British consultancy Cornwall Insight published an index ranking the countries with the greatest market potential for both blue hydrogen from natural gas and green hydrogen from renewable electricity. The firm analyzed government funding for hydrogen in 15 countries that have committed to becoming hydrogen market leaders. Its rankings put Germany at the top, followed by South Korea, Spain, Japan and the United Kingdom. The ranking is not strictly based on countries’ existing and planned hydrogen production capacity. The Port of Suape, Companhia de Gás de Pernambuco (Copergás) and Qair Brasil are studying a partnership between the companies in a pilot project for the production of green hydrogen in Pernambuco. The U.S. and the European Union are close to a deal aimed at reducing Europe’s dependence on Russian energy sources in an effort to further isolate Russia in retribution for its invasion of Ukraine. The sustainable mobility association Gasnam held an online conference to present the Basque Hydrogen Corridor, a pioneering initiative, born from the hand of Petronor and Repsol, to advance the decarbonization of transport, among other sectors. The projects integrated in this initiative involve an investment of 1,300 million euros until 2026, generating more than 1,340 direct jobs and 6,700 indirect jobs, which will result in the production of 20,000 tons of renewable hydrogen per year and in a reduction of 1.5 million tons of CO2 during this period. CS Energy has hired IHI Engineering Australia (a subsidiary of IHI Corporation Japan) to construct the Kogan Renewable Hydrogen Demonstration Plant near Chinchilla. Construction is expected to begin in six months. Minister for Energy, Renewables and Hydrogen Mick de Brenni made the announcement in a media release today.  Additionally, Mr de Brenni said that the government would contribute $28.9 million to the project and a refueling network through the government’s $2 billion Queensland Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Jobs Fund.
