In the United Kingdom, food giant Unilever recently started using hydrogen instead of natural gas to make consumer products. Detergent brand Persil will now be made (partly) with blue hydrogen. This is hydrogen produced from natural gas whereby the CO2 is captured and stored. The trial is intended to show that the food industry can switch to hydrogen as a fuel for chemical processes. Loop Energy announced the debut of Mobility & Innovation’s H2Bus, an eight-meter hydrogen-electric minibus. Mobility & Innovation constructed the bus, which has logged more than 1,200 kilometers, to demonstrate the viability of hydrogen fuel cell technology in transit vehicles and to advertise the company’s future product range. Plagazi AB has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with WIRTZ Energie + Mineralöl to establish a long-term offtake agreement for 4000 tons of green hydrogen and possibly e-fuels produced at Plagazi’s German flagship project “Havelstoff,” which is being developed in collaboration with Neue Energien Premnitz in Brandenburg.
