In 2021, more new hydrogen filling stations went into operation worldwide than ever before. Germany has broken the limit of 100 gas stations and continues to lead in Europe.
Starting in 2023, the plant will be able to produce 10,500t of green hydrogen and 5,250t of green oxygen every month.
According to IEF analyst Alison Catwright, the hydrogen industry is still in its infancy, accounting for just 1% of total energy use and 915 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
The vector of hydrogen as a renewable source will not only give renewables more weight in the national energy mix, but it will also allow its integration
The Department of Energy is funding $28 million in research and development programs focused at advancing the use of clean hydrogen in power generation, industrial processes, and transportation. DOE announced Monday that the financing opportunity will encourage the deployment of carbon capture technologies to generate clean hydrogen from waste materials such as plastics, biomass, legacy coal, and municipal solid waste. The projects will focus on the following areas: cost reductions for clean hydrogen for the DOE’s Hydrogen Shot effort, clean hydrogen production from high-volume waste materials and biomass, and sensors and controls for waste co-gasification. Additionally, the FOA funds front-end…
The Korean government is speeding up efforts to incorporate hydrogen into municipal gas in order to cut greenhouse gas emissions and expand hydrogen availability. The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy established a task force to carry out the project in collaboration with the Korea Gas Corporation, the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning, and others. South Korea consumes approximately 40 million tons of natural gas per year. By injecting 10% hydrogen, it is possible to reduce natural gas consumption by 1.29 million tons per year, so avoiding the emission of 3.55 million tons of carbon dioxide. The…
A hydrogen refueling station for vehicles based in the Tees Valley has opened at Teesside International Airport as part of a £2.5 million region-wide study. The airport, in collaboration with other major organizations, is testing commercial and support vehicles equipped with 100 percent zero-emission hydrogen-fueled commercial and support vehicles as part of the Tees Valley Hydrogen Transport Hub. Now, Element 2, which is assisting in the development of the UK’s hydrogen infrastructure, has established the station to supply fuel to two Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and a forklift that arrived on the site lately. This is in addition…
‘Cryotruck’ is a new project uniting MAN, the Technical University of Munich, and the start-up Cryomotive. The objective is to develop a truck capable of 1,000 kilometers on hydrogen cryogas. Refueling takes only ten minutes. Automobiles powered by hydrogen and utilizing a fuel cell in the future appear to be a non-starter. The electric vehicle is superior in practically every way. As a result, the majority of manufacturers have ceased investing in the development of hydrogen vehicles. However, the situation is reversed for trucks. For example, Daimler Vehicles and the Volvo Group have been collaborating on efficient fuel cells for…
Reganosa will conduct trials in Spain of novel technology for the production and storage of green hydrogen (H2). The Galician energy giant will build a digital tool to assist in the creation of H2 through waste recovery in collaboration with the Technological Institute of Industrial Mathematics (Itmati) and a consortium of prominent firms in the field. This announcement was made this morning by Roco Vega, leader of the Reganosa Digitization department, during a technical symposium on energy transition organized by the Galician Energy Institute (Inega) as part of the Enerxética 2022 fair in Silleda (Pontevedra). The Zeppelin collaboration will spend…
Energy Observer is taking a major step forward by starting the design of the maritime transport industry’s most emblematic ship: a multipurpose cargo ship powered by liquid hydrogen, a zero-emission navigation technology that enables extremely high transport capacity and autonomy. Victorien Erussard, President and Founder of Energy Observer, will unveil the ship at the One Ocean Summit in Brest on February 10th. Maritime transport accounts for 3% of worldwide CO2 emissions per year. Energy Observer and its partners aim to demonstrate prototype solutions for zero-emission freight transport. The technology have matured significantly, with liquid hydrogen storage perfected, liquefiers deployed globally,…
