Angstrom Advanced Inc. has announced the delivery of their newest Angstrom 2.5MW containerized single stack hydrogen production system, which contributes significantly to “green photovoltaic hydrogen generation and worldwide carbon-neutrality.”
Plug Power Inc. has completed the acquisition of Frames Group, a market leader in turnkey energy system integration, following the announcement of the definitive agreement on Nov. 9, 2021. Plug Power gains technical, process, and systems integration capabilities through the purchase of Frames Group, enabling the company to scale the delivery of green hydrogen solutions. “We are thrilled to welcome today 300 new employees within Plug Power, and to expand our presence globally, with employees in the Netherlands, India, the United Emirates, Malaysia and Brazil. The Frames Group’s process and control systems integration expertise, combined with Plug Power’s world-class electrolyzer…
Brazil takes a new step toward energy transition. Eletrobras FURNAS has launched a research facility for green hydrogen generation in the Itumbiara Hydroelectric Power Plant, located between Minas Gerais and Goiás. With a R$ 45 million investment, the goal is to obtain expertise for the entire Brazilian electric sector and contribute to the country’s energy matrix transition. The primary purpose of the research is to evaluate the storage and integration of seasonal and intermittent energy sources into the National Interconnected System (SIN). Eletrobras FURNAS was assisted in launching the project by the companies Base-Energia Sustentável and PV Solar, as well…
According to Canberra’s first status report on its hydrogen strategy, issued in 2019, three major challenges to developing the country’s hydrogen strategy are increasing demand for hydrogen and its derivatives, attaining low-cost production at scale, and lowering delivery costs. The federal government and each of the country’s six state governments have each developed their own hydrogen programs as part of the energy transition away from fossil fuels and toward low-GHG fuels such as hydrogen. Australia is the world’s largest LNG exporter and the second largest supplier of thermal coal. Global adoption of clean hydrogen will require persistent effort to overcome…
The development of hydrogen transportation infrastructure in Europe will raise demand for big diameter steel pipes starting in 2024, Russian integrated steelmaker Severstal stated today. The business anticipates delivering hydrogen-transporting pipes within the next couple of years. According to Dmitry Goroshkov, head of energy sales and business development, the chemical qualities of the gas make it doubtful that current pipelines can safely transport it for extended periods of time. Energy companies are investigating whether they can use existing pipelines to transmit a mixture of methane and hydrogen that can be separated at the destination, or whether they can insulate existing…
S&P Global Platts (Platts) has launched the world’s first suite of Carbon Neutral Hydrogen (CNH) analyses, which will be available beginning December 9, 2021. Platts CNH assessments, which are based on Platts’ first-to-market cost of hydrogen production valuations, reflect the carbon neutral value of hydrogen as it exits production facilities in Northwest Europe, the Middle East, Far East Asia, Australia, California, and the US Gulf Coast. Platts CNH assessments take into account carbon neutral trade activity in which emissions have been avoided where possible by low-emission generation, eliminated through the use of carbon capture and storage, and compensated through the…
Global Energy Venture, an integrated green hydrogen development company, announced significant appointments for the compressed hydrogen ship’s next phase of detailed engineering. Martin Carolan, GEV’s Managing Director & CEO, commented: “The appointments of Capilano and Wartsila will continue on from the successful concept design phase in 2021 which resulted in the receipt of Approval in Principle for both the 430 tonne and 2,000 tonne ships. Capilano and Wartsila will continue to work with our naval engineering team based in Canada. “The engineering program in 2022 is key to achieving Approval for Construction in the first half of 2023. This will…
China just needs to enhance the pace of use of renewable energy sources while avoiding a drop in the amount of wind and solar energy resources utilized to develop a “new energy system.”
Brazil is leading the way in renewable energy with the commissioning of a solar production plant at the FURNAS-owned Itumbiara hydroelectric power project on the border between Minas Gerais and Goiás. The firm, which has a capacity of 1 MW, has two sets of photovoltaic plates, one on the ground and one floating over the reservoir water. The project, led by BASE Energia Sustentável in collaboration with FURNAS, has an electrolyzer that converts solar energy into green hydrogen, which is then stored in a special tank and utilized to generate electricity via a fuel cell.
Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority, Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority, Green Energy Research Institute, POSCO, SPG Hydrogen, and others are among the approximately 20 participants.
