Hyzon Motors Inc. announced the delivery of 29 fuel cell electric vehicles to Shanghai Hydrogen HongYun Automotive Co. (“HongYun”). The trucks will be employed by a major steel group in China. The 49-ton trucks, arrived in November, are equipped with a 170-kilowatt fuel cell stack and are anticipated to begin hauling steel coils for the conglomerate’s fleet in the coming months. HongYun intends to offer operating, leasing, and maintenance services to industrial and municipal customers in certain places throughout China, which is predicted to be a large market for fuel cell technologies in the future years. Hongyun has finalized additional…
Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) and AGL Energy (AGL) have agreed to conduct a feasibility study to repurpose the Liddell and Bayswater coal-fired power stations in the Hunter Valley to manufacture green hydrogen from water using renewable energy. The news reaffirms Australia’s potential to become a worldwide green hydrogen superpower, generating thousands of direct and indirect jobs locally and bolstering regional economies. According to 2019 National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting figures, the Liddell and Bayswater power stations currently account for more over 40% of New South Wales’ carbon dioxide emissions. Successful repurposing of these sites will boost NSW’s efforts to fulfill…
Dopravnà podnik mÄ›sta Ústà nad Labem, the Czech carrier, has signed a framework deal with Solaris Bus & Coach for the delivery of up to twenty hydrogen buses. This is Solaris’s first contract in the Czech Republic for hydrogen-fueled buses. The city of Ústà nad Labem public transport provider and Solaris Bus & Coach have reached a deal on the acquisition of zero-emission Urbino 12 hydrogen buses. It is valid for eight years and allows the carrier to order up to twenty hydrogen buses during that time. Once the vehicles are ordered, they must be delivered within 420 days of the…
ACWA Power of Saudi Arabia, Oman’s state-owned energy company OQ, and Air Products of the United States have entered into an agreement to investigate developing a hydrogen project in the sultanate’s southern governorate of Dhofar. The memorandum of understanding calls for the conduct of a feasibility study on building the H2Oman project in Dhofar with a capacity of 1 million tons of green ammonia per year. ACWA Power is a partner in Saudi Arabia’s $6.5 billion green hydrogen and ammonia project, which is being built in collaboration with the world’s first zero-carbon city, Neom, and Air Products. ACWA Power is…
According to WoodMac, falling electrolyzer costs due to economies of scale, improved automation of production, and the flexibility of such systems would bring green hydrogen to a price point where it is competitive with fossil-fuel-powered hydrogen in a dozen markets by 2030. With the rapid development of plans for electrolyzer production plants across the globe expected to drive down costs, US-based analyst WoodMackenzie has identified Brazil and Chile as “among the front-runners” for achieving affordable clean hydrogen this decade. WoodMac cited plans for large-scale electrolyzer production facilities announced “in recent weeks” by Ohmium in the United States, Clean Power Hydrogen…
SGN, Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG), and Esso Petroleum Company, Limited (an ExxonMobil subsidiary) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to investigate the use of hydrogen and carbon capture to assist in reducing emissions in the Southampton industrial cluster. Southampton is home to one of the largest industrial sectors in the United Kingdom and serves as a critical link in the country’s energy supply chain as well as a vital gateway for international trade. According to an initial feasibility analysis conducted by SGN and GIG, the cluster’s annual hydrogen consumption, which includes the heating needs of 800,000…
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and GE Gas Power announced a collaboration to develop a decarbonization roadmap that includes reducing carbon emissions from gas turbines that power ADNOC’s downstream and industrial operations, including the world-scale Ruwais Industrial Complex in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). This effort contributes to the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative and bolsters ADNOC’s position as one of the least carbon-intensive oil and gas producers in the world. The news builds on ADNOC’s previous renewable energy deal with Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) and strengthens the company’s approach to decarbonization while enabling…
Woodside, Australia’s largest energy company, has announced ambitions to expand its hydrogen production portfolio into the United States, purchasing property in Oklahoma for future development of a modular hydrogen facility and signing an agreement with Hyzon Motors. Woodside has leased and optioned to purchase 94 acres (38 hectares) of undeveloped property in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to support future development of its projected H2OK project. Additionally, the Company is pursuing similar land acquisition possibilities in high-growth locations throughout the United States. Subject to regulatory permissions and customer demand, the H2OK concept calls for the construction of a 290-megawatt (MW) facility that will…
RWE and Novatek have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate more closely on the subject of low-carbon and carbon-free fuels. The memorandum of understanding provides for the supply of “blue” ammonia and hydrogen by Novatek to RWE. Russia’s largest independent natural gas producer is currently conducting a so-called pre-FEED (Front End Engineering Design) study for this purpose. It is investigating the possibilities for producing blue ammonia and hydrogen in the Yamal region. The blue hydrogen is to be produced from natural gas using carbon capture and storage (CCS). The fuel is to be produced at Novatek’s planned Obskiy Gas…
The Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry (MITI) approved a hydrogen drone equipped with H3 Dynamics’ AEROSTAK hydrogen fuel cell technology, built by Drone Works with integration support from Nexty Electronics Co. Ltd. The collaboration resulted in Japan’s first approved multi-rotor hydrogen fuel cell drone test flight. The new generation hydrogen drone is fitted with a JFE Container Co. Ltd.-developed compact composite container for high-pressure hydrogen. H3 Dynamics manufactures the unique drone-compatible hydrogen fuel cell system and has initiated technological integration in Japan with Toyota Group member Toyota Tsusho Nexty Electronics.
