Getech has obtained exclusive rights to pursue green hydrogen and new onshore wind and solar capacity at the Port of Shoreham on England’s south coast. The agreement, which was signed with Getech subsidiary H2 Green, provides for a two-year legally binding license to develop the renewable energy hub. The initial phase of the project will focus on providing green hydrogen and renewable energy to the Port’s fleet of 39 heavy forklift trucks and 12 heavy goods vehicles.Green Hydrogen will be sourced through a “scalable green hydrogen production, storage, and refueling facility whose economics will be optimized through integration with new…
During his visit to Norway this week, King Willem-Alexander emphasized the importance of using new forms of energy such as hydrogen. In the Netherlands, a system has recently become available that not only delivers more than 50 percent energy savings for the heating and ventilation of large industrial buildings and distribution centers, but is also ready to switch to hydrogen as a sustainable energy source. The patented ‘Advanced Energy Technology’ (AET) system comes from the English family company Globe Energy. They developed a heating and ventilation system especially for large commercial spaces with heights from 5 to 50 meters. “These…
Another critical step has been taken toward commercialization of zero-carbon flights to the Isles of Scilly. This week, ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP26 in Glasgow, three companies signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) formalizing their relationship and commitment to bringing hydrogen-powered flights to the islands, thereby realizing the zero-carbon vision. The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group (ISSG), Cranfield Aerospace Solutions (CAeS), and their partner Britten-Norman have pledged to work collaboratively to bring the vision to life. CAeS is leading the collaboration under Project Fresson, leveraging Britten-expertise Norman’s as the original equipment manufacturer for one of the…
Tlou and hydrogen technology partner Synergen Met are collaborating on the Lesedi Power Project (“Lesedi”) to combine large, established natural gas reserves with abundant solar energy to produce green hydrogen, thereby providing a complementary range of cleaner and greener power generation options. The Company has signed a 10MW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Botswana Power Corporation, and the power dispatched under this PPA will assist in the displacement of existing carbon-intensive power. Transmission lines connecting Lesedi to the existing electricity grid are expected to be completed in 2023. The prototype hydrogen production unit is currently being designed, built, and tested…
Ceres Power Holdings has partnered with RFC Power Limited, a long-duration energy storage provider. As an early stage startup, RFC aims to produce the world’s lowest cost flow battery, which is a hybrid fuel cell/battery that separates power and energy. It is a proprietary hydrogen manganese chemistry that promises cheap cost, great round-trip efficiency, and an extraordinarily long cycle life. Long-duration energy storage technologies like hydrogen and flow batteries can help decarbonize the energy system and achieve net zero carbon. Mark Selby, Ceres’ Chief Innovation Officer, will now join the RFC Board. He will use Ceres’ expertise in technology licensing…
Mitteldeutsche Netzgesellschaft Gas (MITNETZ GAS), Kabelsketal, and MoviaTec GmbH, Leipzig, intend to cooperate in the construction and operation of hydrogen filling stations throughout Germany in the future. The two companies have concluded a cooperation agreement to this end. MITNETZ GAS is a subsidiary of MITGAS Mitteldeutsche Gasversorgung GmbH.As an operator of gas networks with a total length of around 7,000 kilometers in parts of the German states of Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, the company is familiar with the needs of network customers and will contribute this know-how to the joint development of a hydrogen filling station network throughout Germany.…
Plug Power Inc. celebrated the formal launch of their green hydrogen and fuel cell gigafactory in Rochester, NY. New York’s first and largest fuel cell and electrolyzer manufacturing gigafactory will create nearly 380 new employment in Monroe County.
Woodside has secured property in Tasmania for its projected H2TAS hydrogen plant. The land is a largely cleared plot located in the Austrak Business Park (Long Reach) in northern Tasmania’s Bell Bay region. Woodside and Austrak have reached an agreement on an exclusive long-term leasing option. The H2TAS project consists of approximately 1.7 GW of electrolysis for the generation of hydrogen and ammonia, which will be completed in phases. In the first phase, a 300 MW capacity would be used to produce 200k tonnes of ammonia per year. It anticipates making a final investment decision in 2023, with construction and…
GAUSSIN, a pioneer in clean and intelligent transport, presented the H2 RACING TRUCK, the world’s most powerful hydrogen and electric racing truck. The GAUSSIN H2 RACING TRUCK® will debut at the 2022 Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia. The H2 RACING TRUCK® is designed to survive harsh situations and to demonstrate the performance and reliability of GAUSSIN’s hydrogen-electric motorization. The data obtained during the 2022 Dakar Rally will be used to further develop GAUSSIN’s road truck range. “On January 12 in NEOM, Saudi Arabia, the Dakar organization presented its “Dakar Future” energy transition program, which aims to make the Dakar 100% “green”…
Monetizing Gas Africa (MGA) and US clean energy innovation firm 8 Rivers Capital, LLC (8 Rivers), have signed an initial agreement to collaborate on projects to deploy innovative clean technology in South Africa based on the 8 Rivers’ technology suite for providing clean, efficient, and low-cost carbon-free hydrogen, power, and fuels. 8 Rivers and MGA will investigate the possibility of decarbonizing South Africa’s LNG imports, in which the CO2 emitted by LNG is fully captured and disposed of, in order to assist South Africa in further mitigating its over-reliance on emitting coal-fired power and assisting the country in meeting its…
