BayWa r.e. has completed construction and achieved financial close for the Amadeus Wind project in Texas. Located northwest of Abilene in Rotan, the 250 MW wind farm has started selling power into the grid and will generate enough clean, renewable energy to meet the electricity needs of more than 74,800 homes annually. Enel has started operating a 199 MW expansion of the Cimarron Bend wind farm in Clark County, Kansas, making the overall 599 MW facility the largest renewable plant owned by the Enel Group currently in operation worldwide. The 236.5 MW White Cloud wind farm also began operations in Nodaway County, Missouri. The two wind farms bring Enel’s total renewable capacity added in 2020 across the US and Canada to 865 MW. YIT has sold the project rights for the Murtomäki wind farm to Ålandsbanken Wind Power Fund. At the same time, the parties agree on the contracting and construction services concerning the Murtomäki wind farm infrastructure, which YIT will provide for the buyer. The Murtomäki wind farm is located in the town of Pyhäjärvi in Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland. Dominion Energy has filed with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) the required Construction and Operations Plan (COP) to build the 2,640-megawatt Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) commercial project, the largest planned offshore wind farm in the United States. Statkraft has decided to construct Cloghan and Taghart wind farms in Ireland. In addition, the company has agreed to sell the wind farms to Greencoat Renewables while retaining responsibility for the construction and the long-term operation and management, in line with Statkraft’s strategy to build, sell, operate and trade power. Cloghan (37.8MW) is located in County Offaly and Taghart (25.2MW) in County Cavan in Ireland. Construction will start early 2021. Iberdrola has increased its commitment to offshore wind by entering into a new market for the company in Poland, as its renewable energy business continues to expand. Hydrogen produced with renewable electricity could compete on costs with fossil fuel alternatives by 2030, according to a new report from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
