GE Renewable Energy has launched the 6.0-164 variant of its Cypress onshore wind turbine platform, making it the company’s most efficient onshore wind turbine available. The 6.0-164 turbine would increase Annual Energy Production (AEP) by up to 11 percent compared to the 5.3-158 model. Like other products on the Cypress platform, the 6.0-164 features a proprietary two-piece blade that enhances logistics and lowers costs. Every 6.0-164 turbine will generate enough electricity to power about 5.800 European households. Danish renewables developer European Energy has been granted a €40 million loan facility by the Danish Green Investment Fund to help boost the construction of large scale wind and solar projects. Vestas has received a 43MW order from Mytilineos for the Makrynoros wind park, located in Central Greece. The contract includes the supply and installation of twelve V136-3.45 MW wind turbines delivered in 3.6 MW operating mode and a 20-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM4000) service agreement. “We are very happy to work once again, with Vestas, on a large wind farm in Greece. The Windpark Hopsten has placed a 25 MW order with Vestas for their citizen wind park Hopsten that will be located in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has, on behalf of the Australian Government, provided $2.6 million in funding to Horizon Power to build Australia’s first remote microgrid using renewable hydrogen generation in Denham, Western Australia. The project will be a first-of-its-kind demonstration that will utilize solar and renewable hydrogen generation and storage to provide 526 MWh of dispatchable renewable electricity, enough to power the equivalent of 100 residential homes. The last of 77 MHI Vestas V164-9.5 MW turbines has now been installed at the Borssele III/IV project site in the Dutch North Sea. The final set of turbines will now be commissioned and tested in preparation for maximum power generation.
