Alstom will supply six hydrogen fuel cell trains, with an option of eight more to FNM (Ferrovie Nord Milano), the main transport and mobility company in the Italian region of Lombardy, for a total amount of approximately €160 million. The first train delivery is expected within 36 months of the date of the order. GE Renewable Energy has launched the 6.0-164 variant of its Cypress onshore wind turbine platform, making it the company’s most efficient onshore wind turbine available. The 6.0-164 turbine would increase Annual Energy Production (AEP) by up to 11 percent compared to the 5.3-158 model. Like other products on the Cypress platform, the 6.0-164 features a proprietary two-piece blade that enhances logistics and lowers costs. Danish renewables developer European Energy has been granted a €40 million loan facility by the Danish Green Investment Fund to help boost the construction of large scale wind and solar projects. Vestas has received a 43MW order from Mytilineos for the Makrynoros wind park, located in Central Greece. Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has, on behalf of the Australian Government, provided $2.6 million in funding to Horizon Power to build Australia’s first remote microgrid using renewable hydrogen generation in Denham, Western Australia. The project will be a first-of-its-kind demonstration that will utilize solar and renewable hydrogen generation and storage to provide 526 MWh of dispatchable renewable electricity, enough to power the equivalent of 100 residential homes.
