The platform was ordered by wind farm operator Parkwind in coordination with 50Hertz. WindFloat Atlantic is now fully operational and supplying clean energy to Portugal’s electrical grid. Following the connection of the last of the three platforms to the 20 m export cable connecting the wind farm to the substation at Viana do Castelo, Portugal, the construction of the wind farm is now complete. In the first half of 2020, the amount of wind energy transmitted onshore by the transmission system operator TenneT from the North Sea rose to 11.51 terawatt-hours. First Solar announced that Goldman Sachs Renewable Power acquired the 123-megawatt AC American Kings Solar project in a transaction that closed at the end of June 2020. The companies have signed an agreement, which will trigger investment of 150 million euros, to construct the largest plant to produce green hydrogen for industrial use in Europe. The Spanish companies are to build the plant in Puertollano and it will be operational in 2021. Iberdrola will be responsible for the production of green hydrogen from 100 % renewable sources. Tesla’s energy storage business picked up steam in the second quarter and even played a minor role in the company’s fourth consecutive quarter of profitability, according to earnings reported Wednesday. Commercial and residential energy storage sales as well as solar are still mere slices of Tesla’s overall business, which is largely dominated by automotive.
