The Nordex Group has received an order for the supply of 41 N149/4.0-4.5 turbines for a wind farm in Colombia. The order also includes a service agreement for a period of two years with an option to extend initially by three and subsequently a further five years. The N149/4.0-4.5 turbines with a rotor diameter of 149 metres will be installed on site on tubular steel towers with a hub height of 105 metres. The project name and customer are undisclosed. Duke Energy has began construction on two major solar projects in North Carolina. The projects are the 69-megawatt (MW) Maiden Creek solar facility, located on Didley Dadburn Road in the Catawba County town of Maiden and the 25-MW Gaston solar facility located on Neal Road in the Gaston County town of Bessemer City. The projects were selected as part of a competitive bidding process that was established from 2017’s landmark solar legislation in North Carolina. Scottish civil engineering contractor RJ McLeod has been awarded the main contract to build the 103-turbine Viking Wind Farm, one of the largest contracts of this type ever awarded in Scotland. The platform was ordered by wind farm operator Parkwind in coordination with 50Hertz.
