Ørsted and Van Oord have successfully installed all 94 array cables connecting the turbines of the Borssele I & II offshore wind farm. The installation started in February this year. The cables are installed by Van Oord’s cable-laying vessel Nexus. Next month, Van Oord and Ørsted also expect to finalize the cable burial campaign with Van Oord’s trencher Dig-It. Enel Green Power (EGP), through its Indian subsidiary Enel Green Power India (EGP India), and the Norwegian Investment Fund for developing countries Norfund, have signed a long-term agreement to jointly finance, build and operate new renewable projects in India. The arrangement is a joint investment structure in which EGP India will be responsible for the production and construction of each project, while Norfund will be entitled to invest in the projects after a certain milestone has been achieved in its completion, thereby becoming equity partner with EGP India in the project. The Nordex Group has obtained a large order to supply and install N149/4.0-4.5 turbines in the 4.8 MW operating mode for the 312 MW Gecama wind farm in Spain. The consumer is Enlight Renewable Energy from Israel. Gecama is the company’s first project in Spain, which operates in Israel and Europe, and the first joint project with Nordex . Ørsted acquired the 227MW under construction Muscle Shoals solar project located in Colbert County, Alabama, USA. Concurrent to the acquisition, Ørsted enters into a tax equity funding commitment with Wells Fargo. The project will be Ørsted’s second solar project in the US, following the decision in November 2019 to commence construction of the Permian Energy Center solar plus storage project in Texas. Following the acquisition of Muscle Shoals, Ørsted will have two solar projects totaling 647MWac of generation capacity under construction across the US along with 40MWac of storage capacity. Fugro has mobilized two additional vessels off the coast of New Jersey to support their ongoing site characterization work for Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind, a joint venture between Shell New Energies US and EDF Renewables North America. Operating in the Atlantic Shores lease area since May, Fugro now has three vessels on site with a fourth to be added later this month. The project involves collection of high resolution geophysical, benthic and shallow geotechnical data within the lease area and along two proposed export cable routes. The European Marine Energy Center (EMEC) has been contracted by the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST) to support the construction of its tidal energy test site at Jang-Juk Strait near Jindo Island, Korea. KIOST is developing a grid-connected tidal energy test site on the Jang-Juk Strait in Korea’s Southwestern Sea. Air Products, ACWA Power and NEOM have signed an agreement for a $5 billion world-scale green hydrogen-based ammonia production facility powered by renewable energy.
