ABS is to provide classification services to the first floating heavy lift and installation vessel to be built in Taiwan. GE Renewable Energy and Walcha Energy have signed an agreement to jointly build the New England Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) pumped hydro storage project Dungowan in New South Wales (NSW), Australia. Vena Energy’s 35-megawatt Ono solar project in the Fukushima Prefecture in Japan has started commercial operation. Operated by the Nippon Renewable Energy Operations (NREO) branch of Fukushima— a Vena Energy subsidiary— the Ono solar project features 87.000 photovoltaic modules that generate up to 37.441 MWh annually, capable of providing up to 7.098 Japanese households with renewable energy each year. Vestas has secured an agreement with Vena Energy to service its 54 MW Gamesa turbines at Pililla wind project in Philippines. The agreement is the first full-scope multi-brand service deal for Vestas in the world, leveraging its expertise in servicing 3.6 GW Gamesa turbines globally, including Taiwan in the Asia Pacific region. Partners Group has invested over A$180 million in equity on behalf of its clients to acquire and construct the Murra Warra wind farm (Murra Warra II) second phase in Australia. Construction of Murra Warra II will begin this month and should be completed by mid-2022. The wind farm will consist of 38 GE Cypress 5.5MW turbines with a total nameplate capacity of 209MW, located about 30 kilometers north of Horsham in Victoria state, next to Murra Warra I. Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) and Tesla have started constructing a 182.5-megawatt (MW) lithium-ion battery energy storage system (BESS) at PG&E’s Moss Landing electric substation in Monterey County. The system will be designed, constructed, maintained by PG&E and Tesla, and owned and operated by PG&E. Construction will proceed until the beginning of next year. PG&E plans to energize the system in early 2021 and to have it completely operational in the second quarter of 2021. Duke Energy and Buncombe County are joining together to construct a new solar power plant on a former landfill in the town of Woodfin. Duke Energy will own and run the 5-megawatt solar power plant on Buncombe County’s closed landfill–near to Interstate 26 and the French Broad River. The plant is to be located on 25 acres and linked to the Duke Energy grid. The county will lease the property to Duke Energy under a 25 year deal.
