The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), National Hydropower Association (NHA), and Energy Storage Association (ESA) have agreed to actively collaborate across their industry segments to achieve a shared vision of renewables reaching a majority of U.S. electricity generation by 2030. A collection of joint advocacy principles has been released by the four industries that will allow them to realize this ambitious vision of a majority renewables grid. Such common values, along with enhanced cooperation, include creating a more robust, effective, safe, and accessible grid, achieving carbon cuts, and promoting greater competition through fair market rules. “This collaborative promise…
Enercon has won the Credit Suisse Energy Infrastructure Partners (CSEIP) as majority shareholder for the northern part of the major Swedish wind energy project Markbygden Phase II. The Swiss investors will acquire up to 85 percent of the shares in the onshore wind farm in the municipality of PiteÃ¥ in the northern Swedish province of Norrbotten. In the project with a nominal output of 252.7 MW, Enercon is installing 63 Enercon E-138 EP3 wind turbines. Enercon itself will remain a long-term shareholder with a minority stake, thereby underlining its long-term strategic interest in Sweden as a wind energy location. Enercon…
D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI) has acquired the Hunter Solar project in Emery County, Utah from Community Energy. DESRI also closed on financing and a tax equity commitment for the project. Hunter Solar is a 100 MW AC project with a long-term PPA with PacifiCorp which will provide the renewable energy certificates from the new solar power to Facebook’s data center operations. A syndicate of lenders led by HSBC as the Coordinating Lead Arranger and CIBC as the Joint Lead Arranger provided financing for the project, while Wells Fargo provided a commitment for tax equity funding. Swinerton Renewable Energy,…
Greenalia has launched its first floating offshore wind project in Gran Canaria, by filing the application for project & environmental planning. The Parque Eólico Gofio project is a 50 MW offshore wind farm situated in the south-eastern part of Gran Canaria Island, in front of the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and near to the port of Arinaga. Four 12.5MW offshore wind turbines form the power plant on top of floating foundations and they will deliver the energy produced by the use of submarine cables. As highlighted in many energy reports, the project is situated in one of the…
Antaisolar has delivered aluminum mounting structure for agricultural photovoltaic plant in South Korea. This is the first aluminum mounting structure delivered in the country for the largest photovoltaic plant in Korean territory to date, Antaisolar said. In addition to the pile-ground solar farms, Antaisolar provided solar racking for 400KW solar agriculture project in Korea. It’s known that the combination of solar energy and agriculture helps to utilize the land efficiently in a smart way. The farm solar mounting system will not obstruct crop production while meeting the demand for power generation. With the development of solar energy in South Korea,…
Belgian companies ENGIE Fabricom and Iemants will provide the offshore platform for the wind farm in the Hollandse Kust (North). TenneT had put out a tender for this. The tender also includes the option for the Hollandse Kust (west alpha) and Hollandse Kust (west beta). In the Hollandse Kust (north) wind zone a wind farm with a total installed capacity of at least 693 MW to a maximum of 760 MW will be built. The contract is for the design, engineering , production, delivery, transport and installation of an (unmanned) offshore platform. It concerns both the jacket foundation and the…
The Nordex Group has received an order for the supply and construction of 26 AW132/3465 turbines in Brazil from COPEL–Companhia Paranaense de Energia. The order also includes machine servicing with a 20-year contract term. The 90 MW ‘JandaÃra Copel’ wind farm will be constructed in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, near the city of JandaÃra in eastern Brazil. The Nordex Group will manufacture the 26 turbines at their Simões Filho production facility. The turbines will be installed on concrete towers of 120 meters, which the Group will produce not far from the site at its local plant in…
EnBW and aerodyn engineering are testing two 18 meters tall, 1:10-scale wind turbine prototypes on a concrete floating platform in a flooded gravel pit near Bremerhaven. The Nezzy2 project is to prove itself in the Baltic Sea in wind and wave conditions. If these trials go well, then the model will be fully tested with another partner in China. The research project aims to create a new offshore technology allowing wind turbines to float on the surface of the water. Offshore wind turbines have until now been anchored at a maximum water depth of 50 meters to foundations in the seabed.…
Royal Boskalis Westminster in consortium with Bouygues Travaux Publics and Saipem has been awarded the design, construction and installation scope for 71 concrete Gravity-Based Structures (GBS) as the foundation for the Fécamp offshore wind farm in Normandy, France. The overall value of the deal is €552 million and the divided contract value is 40.5 percent Bouygues Travaux Publics, 40.5 percent Saipem, and 19 percent Boskalis. The award was made by Eoliennes Offshore des Hautes Falaises (EOHF). The offshore wind farm will be built in Normandy, between 13 and 22 kilometers off the Fécamp coast. At depths between 25 and 30 meters, the 71…
EDF Renewables, Enbridge and wpd have launched the Fécamp offshore wind farm after the consortium and its financial partners signed funding agreements over the weekend. The 500MW offshore wind farm Fécamp will consist of 71 wind turbines situated between 13 and 22 kilometers from the northwest coast of France. The commissioning of the project is expected in 2023. The power generated by the wind farm would provide sufficient annual electricity to meet the power needs of 770.000 people, or more than 60 percent of the population of the Seine-Maritime department. The construction of the project will create over 1,400 local jobs in total. Around 100…
