BayWa r.e. has completed the Kuwabarajo Mega Solar No.4, its first solar park in Japan. The 11.9MW project covers 24 hectares and is located Izumi in the Kyushu Kagoshima Prefecture. The park will generate enough power to supply 5.000 households. “We’re very pleased to announce the completion of our first solar farm in Japan. Developing mega-solar projects in Japan is a challenge, given that suitable land for construction is scarce, and the permission process can easily take a few years. We are very proud to be playing a role in helping Japan to grow its renewable energy generation and support…

Eneco and SwifterwinT have entered into a 15-year contract for the purchase of the power supplied by SwifterwinT’s 37 onshore wind turbines. As of 2023, these turbines will produce 780 GWh of green power per year, which is equal to the total electricity usage of about 275.000 households. This is enough to give the entire city of Almere green power each year. The goal of Eneco is to use the electricity locally, wherever possible. The SwifterwinT turbines are part of Windplanblauw wind farm in the Dronten and Lelystad municipalities, situated in the northwest corner of Flevoland province. The existing 74…
The Interreg North West Europe Marine Energy Alliance (MEA) project has reached a new milestone by awarding services through its second call for applications to 23 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). MEA seeks to advance the technological and commercial early stage maturity level (TRL 3 – 4) of marine energy technology companies with the ultimate goal of reducing the possibility of system failure in subsequent demonstration phases. The awarded companies are: Floating Energy Systems; Dublin Offshore Consultants; HydroWing; Wenverter; Tidal Flyer; Seaturns; Farwind; Solarinblue; Oceans of Energy; Dolfines; Resolute Marine; Sea Wave Energy; Infinities Global Limited; LHYFE LABS; Solarduck; Novige;…
Clearway Energy Group has completed the construction and brought online Mesquite Star, a 419 MW wind farm in Fisher County, Texas. Mesquite Star is contracted with many corporate and institutional clients, including Ecolab, Lowe’s, Intuit, and Brown University, in an aggregation of long term power agreements. Blattner Energy built the project with wind turbines supplied by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy as well as a tax equity investment from BHE Renewables. “We’re proud of the team that came together to bring this project to life. Successfully launching a project like this, at a time like this, demonstrates the durability of this industry…
GE Renewable Energy has been selected by Naturgy to provide a 5-year full-service agreement (FSA) for the La Rabia wind farm in Spain. The wind farm includes 13 Eco-80 turbines. In addition to 50 units of the same technology at Naturgy’s Pehimo wind farm, already under contract, GE will be performing full preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on these 13 units. Commercial flexibility and added value through technology upgrades were key to the parties reaching a final agreement. “This deal represents the confidence that Naturgy has in GE Renewable Energy and the quality of our services offerings. We are delighted…
Nexans has secured a major contract by SSE Renewables to design, manufacture and install the high voltage (HV) onshore and offshore export cables for the phase 1 development of the Seagreen offshore wind farm project. Construction will start next year on the 1,075 megawatt (MW) project, which is located 27 kilometers off Angus coast. Once completed in 2022/23, Seagreen 1 will be the largest wind farm in Scotland and the single largest source of renewable energy, contributing significantly to Scotland’s net zero ambition and providing enough clean, renewable energy to power 1 million homes. Three 65 kilometers offshore export cables…
The cross-border SELKIE project aimed at boosting the marine energy industry in Wales and Ireland has revealed that Ocean Energy is the wave energy company following a tender for a pilot demonstration project. Ocean Energy has followed a careful technology development route, resulting in a robust and practical design device with one part moving out of the sea-water. Early TRLs were covered through tank tests in Cork and Nantes. The progression up the TRL levels resulted in more than 3 years of successful live sea testing at the Galway Bay Test Site resulting in proven device survivability. Recently, Ocean Energy…
GE Renewables has signed its first contract with Power China Guizhou Engineering to supply 12 units of 2.5-132 low-wind speed turbines for a 30MW wind farm near Puyang city, China. The order includes a two-year service agreement. This is the first onshore wind contract in China with PowerChina, a long-term global EPC partner of GE. The project is scheduled to begin construction in the fourth quarter of 2020 and is estimated to be fully operational by the end of 2020. “We’re delighted to see our first onshore wind partnership with PowerChina. GE has a long-term relationship with PowerChina and has…
Ørsted has recently installed the 25th of Borssele 1 & 2’s 8MW wind turbines, it was also the 1.500th offshore wind turbine installed by Ørsted. Before construction started at Borssele 1 & 2, Ørsted had already installed 6.8GW of offshore wind capacity worldwide, which provides green electricity for the equivalent of 6.6 million households annually. Ørsted is currently constructing 3GW of offshore wind and plans to have a total of 15GW deployed in Denmark, Germany , the Netherlands, Taiwan, UK and the US by 2025. “Offshore wind has matured at a rapid pace and can now be considered a cornerstone in…
Neoen has started construction of Yllikkälä Power Reserve One, a new 30 MW power storage facility with a storage capacity of 30 MWh, in Finland. The facility will be in the southeast of the country, near Lappeenranta. The facility is expected to play a crucial role in stabilizing the Fingrid-managed national electricity network. Aside from better stability and lower costs of stabilizing the power grid, the plant would promote the introduction of future renewable energy projects. Yllikkälä Power Reserve One will make it possible to harness Finland’s substantial wind resources and speed up progress towards a target of being carbon…
