The Vertex TSM-DEG18MC.20 is based on the 210 millimeter large-size silicon wafer and monocrystalline PERC cell. Innovative design features allow high power output of more than 500W. This module is able to absorb solar radiation from both sides, with 5 – 30 percent of additional power generation being brought back by the backside. The 1/3-cut technology overpowered the traditional half-cut technology that is implemented to improve the power output of a solar panel system by solving the problems from high system current and reducing the power loss. Ørsted has signed a 15-year contract with Ta San Shang Marine for the manufacture of a service operation vessel for Ørsted’s Changhua offshore wind farms. The contract represents the first-ever SOV in Taiwan and Asia Pacific. Port of Taichung will be used as the base port for the POV, scheduled for delivery in early 2022. The SOV will be used to provide O&M services for the Changhua offshore wind farms, which will be located 35 to 60 kilometers from the coastline. “Ørsted develops, constructs and operates offshore wind farms around the world and is pioneering and driving offshore wind development…
As the wind farm market continues to grow so too does the demand for larger, more reliable and efficient vessels to construct and service them. Wärtsilä’s integrated equipment package and customised design delivers the most efficient and environmentally sustainable offshore vessels to meet this challenge. Offshore wind energy is one of the renewable energy sectors best-positioned to benefit from heightened pressures for an emission-free, electrical power generation. The increase in offshore wind power around the world brings ever growing opportunities for vessel owners are operators to maximise profits and grow their business in this industry.
Recurrent Energy has received approval from the Mississippi Public Service Commission on the build-transfer (BTA) with Entergy Mississippi for the Sunflower solar project. The largest solar power plant in the state of Mississippi, the 100 megawatt Sunflower solar photovoltaic project has a base purchase price of approximately $138.4 million. “We would like to thank the Commission for its approval of this build-and-transfer agreement that will allow us to move ahead with the Sunflower project. This agreement with Entergy is another milestone that underscores Recurrent Energy’s leadership position in the U.S. solar development space. We are proud to do our part to expand the use…
SolarPower Europe and LUT University have released a report that models a 100 percent renewables scenario for Europe to reach climate neutrality before 2050. The energy transition across Europe is explored in the modelling of three distinct scenarios: Laggard scenario: A slower energy transition up to 2050 results in only in a renewable energy share of 62 percent and approximately a 90 percent reduction in GHG emissions by 2050, missing the EC’s climate neutrality and Paris agreement targets. Moderate scenario: A medium pace energy transition towards 100 percent renewables by 2050, meeting the EC’s climate neutrality vision with zero GHG emissions…
Clean Power Alliance (CPA) has signed its first energy storage agreement (ESA). The 100-megawatt/400-megawatt-hour standalone lithium-ion battery storage project will be owned and operated by sPower. “sPower is committed to helping CPA and other CCAs achieve their clean energy future. We operate more than 1,200 MW of solar generation in California and are excited to partner with CPA to add new energy storage to the supply mix,” said Hans Isern, senior vice president of power marketing, sPower. The $100 million project is expected to be operational by August 2021. It will allow renewable energy resources to be integrated into the…
Ørsted has completed the 338MW Sage Draw wind farm in Texas. The project will have the capacity to meet the yearly electricity needs of 120.000 households. “The safe completion of Sage Draw amidst the escalating COVID-19 crisis is a testament to the resilience and adaptiveness of the Ørsted team and key project partners at Blattner Energy and GE Renewable Energy as well as financial partners, GE Energy Financial Services and BHE Renewables. This underscores the significant role renewable energy can play in continuing to build our economy as we manage through and beyond the current crisis,” said Declan Flanagan, executive…
Analysts GlobalData has reported that the UK wind turbine prices could increase due to the coronavirus pandemic as quarantine measures create a supply blockage. Even tho it’s a thriving industry, the UK suffers from a lack of domestic turbine manufacturers. “Despite the manufacturing sector being exempt from the lockdown, stringent quarantine measures are likely to create a material supply bottleneck. Production rates are not expected to be high, hence to meet the expected rates, the manufacturing costs would go up. During the first quarter of 2020, the UK’s average turbine price is estimated to rise to $854/kW, from $816/kW, and…
Widespread support for offshore wind energy is coming from every demographics group across the U.S. According to the survey conducted by Public Opinion Strategies, and released by American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), over 80 percent of voters favor offshore wind energy. Wind energy is viewed as a clean, renewable, affordable power source that reduces carbon emission, while providing power to American households. “Voters are strongly in favor of offshore wind energy, regardless of ideology or party affiliation. Republicans and Democrats alike see offshore wind as playing a key role in the nation’s future energy portfolio, providing tremendous economic and environmental…
