BMW Korea has recently launched its new hydrogen-powered SUV, the iX5 Hydrogen, which is based on the fifth-generation eDrive technology.

This pilot model can generate up to 401 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in less than 6 seconds. The SUV’s energy tank, which takes only 3-4 minutes for a full charge, has the capability to store approximately 6 kilograms of hydrogen, which can enable it to drive for around 500 kilometres on a single charge.

BMW has continued to work on hydrogen fuel cell technology, and with the launch of the iX5 Hydrogen, the company is showcasing its commitment to clean energy solutions. The SUV has a range of advanced features, including an intelligent energy management system, which optimizes energy usage and ensures a sustainable energy supply. BMW has also been involved in various research projects, such as the Hydrogen Mobility Europe project, which aimed to demonstrate the feasibility of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles for public transportation.

With the increasing focus on reducing carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality, BMW’s efforts towards hydrogen fuel cell technology will play a crucial role in the transition towards sustainable transportation. The iX5 Hydrogen marks a significant step forward in BMW’s pursuit of alternative fuel vehicles, and it is expected that the company will continue to invest in and develop this technology in the coming years.
