Green Energy Park (GEP) has set its sights on revolutionizing the global energy landscape with its initiative in Brazil. The company recently signed a definitive agreement for US$30 million in Series-A funding and acquiring long-term rights to hydrogen port terminal facilities in Luis Correia, Brazil.

This strategic move is part of GEP’s ambitious plan to construct an 11GW hydrogen production plant, positioning it as one of the largest in the world.

Founded in 2023, Green Energy Park aims to produce renewable hydrogen in the most cost-competitive locations, with an initial focus on Brazil’s northeast region. The company’s mission is clear: to supply green fuels to industries and transportation sectors, facilitating the decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors of the economy.

Green Energy Park’s flagship project, Green Energy Park Piaui, represents a significant leap forward in renewable energy infrastructure. With a target of 10.8GW of electrolyzer capacity, this hydrogen production plant incorporates state-of-the-art process engineering designs derived from the liquefied natural gas and ammonia sectors. The integration of advanced technologies positions GEP at the forefront of the hydrogen revolution.

Chief Executive Bart Biebuyck emphasizes the urgent need for action to combat climate change. Despite escalating emissions from fossil fuels, Biebuyck remains optimistic about achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. He underscores GEP’s commitment to producing low-cost renewable hydrogen at a gigawatt scale, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and innovative engineering solutions.

Investe Piaui CEO Victor Hugo Almeida highlights the unique advantages offered by the State of Piaui for green hydrogen production. With unwavering support from the state government and Governor Rafael Fonteles, Piaui is poised to become a global hub for renewable energy innovation. The partnership with Green Energy Park promises to create thousands of high-quality jobs and drive green industrialization, setting a precedent for sustainable development in Brazil and beyond.
