Linde Files Patent for Fuel Cell System for Mobile Work Machine

Linde Material Handling GmbH has filed a patent for an innovative fuel cell system designed for mobile work machines, particularly industrial trucks.

This novel system aims to enhance the performance and efficiency of hydrogen-powered vehicles by incorporating advanced cooling and flushing systems. The patent outlines key components and configurations that make this technology unique.

The core of the invention is a hydrogen-powered fuel cell device. This device is supported by a cooling system, which plays a crucial role in maintaining optimal temperatures for the fuel cell’s operation. A fan device, integrated within the cooling system, generates a cooling airflow that ensures the fuel cell device operates efficiently and does not overheat during prolonged use. The proper function of this cooling system is vital for maintaining the longevity and reliability of the fuel cell.

In addition to cooling, the patent introduces a flushing system designed to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the fuel cell. The flushing system prevents the buildup of contaminants that could otherwise degrade the performance of the fuel cell over time. The role of this system is critical in environments where industrial trucks are exposed to dust, dirt, and other particulates.

An innovative aspect of the patent is its assembly mount, which secures both the fuel cell device and the fan device. This assembly mount serves a dual purpose by forming an exhaust air channel for the cooling system and a buffering storage chamber for the flushing system. These channels facilitate efficient airflow and enhance the overall performance of the fuel cell system. The buffering storage chamber is connected to the exhaust air channel through a throttle connection, which allows for controlled airflow and pressure management within the system.

As industrial trucks face demanding operational conditions, the patented fuel cell system offers a reliable and efficient solution. By integrating advanced cooling and flushing mechanisms, the system ensures that the trucks can operate without interruption while minimizing downtime caused by potential overheating or contamination issues. This makes the technology particularly suitable for industries relying on high-performance, mobile work machines.
