Metacon, in collaboration with GISAB, has signed a contract with Botnia Hydrogen for the supply of two electrolysis-based integrated Green Hydrogen Refuelling Stations (HRS) worth approximately 56 MSEK.
Botnia Hydrogen, a company founded by Zelk Energy, has signed a contract with Metacon to purchase two hydrogen refueling stations that will be integrated with electrolysis-based hydrogen production. The stations, which will be located in Pite and Arvidsjaur in northern Sweden, will be able to refuel 200 and 400 kg of hydrogen per day at 350 and 700 bar. GISAB will provide the stations with turn-key balance of plant work as well as a Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) to cover the maintenance of the hydrogen production unit.
Construction at the sites is expected to begin in late 2022, with both stations expected to be operational in the spring of 2023. Zelk Energy has received public funds from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s Klimatklivet program, which they have set aside for use in Botnia Hydrogen alongside private investments.
Under standard commercial and payment terms, the new green hydrogen stations are delivered turnkey to the sites. Furthermore, Metacon has been given the opportunity to make a 5.5 MSEK equity investment in Botnia Hydrogen in exchange for approximately 16 percent ownership. The investment is expected to be completed by the end of August 2022.
