HNH Energy project, led by AustriaEnergy, Okowind, and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), has announced a partnership with Neltume Ports, a company linked to the Von Appen group and the Canadian Atco, for the development of a “multi-user” port that will allow exports of hydrogen and ammonia produced in Chile’s Magallanes region.
Neltume Ports Development Manager Fernando Reveco stated that his firm completely supports HNH Energy’s aim of integrating the regional vision from the start, with a design that is socially and environmentally suitable for the region. “Neltume Ports warmly embraces the promise to work together with local authorities and communities to make a new multi-user open access port platform for Magallanes a reality,” added the CEO.
“Magallanes has a unique opportunity,” Soren Toftgaard, a partner in CIP’s Energy Transition Fund, said. “We as CIP want to contribute to the development of a local and competitive green hydrogen and ammonia industry, which generates solutions to the region’s current challenges and positions it as a protagonist in a future based on clean energy.”
Meanwhile, AustriaEnergy CEO Helmut Kantnet said, “After over a decade of participation in the country’s decarbonization, the HNH Energy project is the next step in leading the way toward an energy transition that is environmentally friendly and so benefits our work to decrease global emissions.”
