Nikola Corporation, a global leader in zero-emissions transportation and energy solutions, has been awarded a $41.9 million grant by the California Transportation Commission (CTC) to build six heavy-duty hydrogen refueling stations across Southern California.
The Industry Group was established in February 2019 with the objective of tackling the problems associated with hydrogen fuelling technology in order to achieve the fueling speeds required for heavy-duty applications currently in use.
The agreements will allow fuel-cell power modules to be adapted for the Nikola Tre and Nikola Two fuel-cell applications in the United States.
The deal covers a multi-year duration and is expected to generate revenue in excess of EUR 200 million.
This partnership is the first phase in the parties’ joint establishment of a national hydrogen fueling station network.
