The HyProvide electrolyzer from Green Hydrogen Systems has entered the Norwegian market, and two freshly purchased systems are planned to produce 389kg of green hydrogen everyday in the country next year. The electrolyser manufacturer announced that it has received an order from Liquiline for the equipment, which will be put within a 40ft container to form a complete green hydrogen plant. The electrolysers will create hydrogen from renewable energy with a total capacity of 0.9MW. According to Green Hydrogen Systems, the electrolyzers will be completely operational in 2022.

Mitsubishi Power is trying to decarbonize its operations with hydrogen, having ordered what it claims is the world’s largest single stack high-pressure alkaline electrolyzer equipment. The system, which was ordered from HydrogenPro, will have a capacity of 1100 normal cubic metres per hour and will assist both organizations in scaling up and testing hydrogen technology. The system will initially be deployed at the Herya Industrial Park in Norway, according to project plans, but Mitsubishi will later attempt to incorporate similar electrolyser technology into its operations in the United States. The companies will carry out a structured validation program and optimize…

The Scottish Wholesale Association and Arcola Energy have teamed up to deploy more hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in Scotland to help the UK transition to zero-emission road freight. The Scottish Hydrogen Fuel Cell Freight Trial (SHyFT) has previously received funding from the Department of Transport’s Zero Emission Road Freight programme, and each deployed hydrogen-powered truck will use Scotland’s long-standing hydrogen station network. In addition to utilizing existing infrastructure, the alliance will seek to develop creative solutions to aid in the adoption of future zero-emission automobiles. The partnership’s actions are expected to aid in the development of low-cost, zero-emission heavy goods…

HyPoint, a hydrogen fuel cell expert, has signed a $6.5 million agreement with Piasecki Aircraft Corporation to develop a hydrogen fuel cell system for zero-emission electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. In a joint statement, the partners stated that their goal was to develop a zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell system for eVTOL applications that has four times the energy density of existing lithium-ion batteries, twice the specific power of alternative hydrogen fuel cell systems, and half the operating costs of a traditional turbine-powered rotorcraft. They also intend to collaborate in order to obtain the system certified by the Federal…

Hydrogen produced using clean energy will be the most cost-effective approach to reduce emissions from steel production to near zero by 2050. While creating green steel using hydrogen demands a price premium currently, the method would likely be cheaper than coal- or natural gas-based production by mid-century. The most cost-effective method of producing green steel will also be determined by geography. A country with plentiful hydrogen supply might make it the dominating fuel for steel manufacturing, while a country rich in hydropower or another clean energy source may directly electrify steelmaking via a technique known as molten oxide electrolysis. Recycling,…
