Aker Horizons and Statkraft have signed a collaboration agreement to jointly explore opportunities for green hydrogen and ammonia production in India and Brazil, with a focus on the steel and fertilizer industries. Steel and ammonia industry emissions account for nearly 9% of global greenhouse gas emissions and are classified as difficult-to-abate sectors. Green hydrogen is an emission-free alternative to decarbonizing these industrial sectors, as well as a way to improve the two commodities’ supply security. India’s cooperation Aker Clean Hydrogen and Statkraft have agreed to explore joint development opportunities in India for fully-integrated renewable power generation and green hydrogen production,…

India’s first pure green hydrogen pilot plant with an installed capacity of 10 kilograms per day has been commissioned by Oil India Limited at its Jorhat Pump Station in Assam. The plant uses a 100 kW Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) Electrolyser array to produce green hydrogen from the electricity generated by the existing 500kW solar plant. This is the first time AEM technology has been used in India. Prime Minister’s goal of an energy-independent India has been achieved in part by the company. Green hydrogen production will increase from 10 kg per day to 30 kg per day at this…

Integrated reversible power-to-gas systems developed by researchers at Stanford University and the University of Mannheim in Germany provide a solution: hydrogen fuel cells that can be easily converted back to electricity at higher power prices. New research shows that reversible fuel cells can be a financially viable source of backup electricity during periods of surging prices, such as Texas experienced in 2021 when winter storms knocked out natural gas-fueled power stations. As the research reveals, having the ability to change directions allows the entire system to operate closer to its maximum potential. Carbon-free hydrogen and carbon-free electricity can be produced…
