Iberdrola is moving forward with the construction of three out of four wind farms, Cordel-Vidural, Capiechamartín and Panondres, that the company has planned for the Asturias region, all of which will require an investment of more than €100 million. Purdue University (Purdue) and the University of Minnesota (UMN) are studying the visual and auditory capabilities of bald and golden eagles to help improve the effectiveness of deterrents used around wind energy facilities. Findings from this research, which is funded by the Wind Energy Technologies Office (WETO), will be made available to eagle deterrent technology developers. Vestas has secured an intertidal order for a 29 MW wind project from the Vietnamese developer, Soc Trang Energy Joint Stock Company, a subsidiary of Xuan Cau Company. Pathfinder Clean Energy (PACE) has submitted its first UK subsidy-free solar projects into planning. Two separate planning applications for ground-mounted solar farms, totaling 40MW have been submitted to local councils in Norfolk. The projects will provide enough power for over 12,500 households and would reduce CO2 emissions by 10,000 tonnes annually. These projects will have the ability to co-locate energy storage.
