A feasibility study for the state government found that the site of the decommissioned coal power station Moorburg in the city state of Hamburg would lend itself to the production of green hydrogen with a capacity of up to 500 megawatts (MW). Electrolysers can be built in parts of the existing power plant infrastructure, which is ideal. As a result of this report, a new facility could be built at the same time as a portion of the power plant is dismantled, and then expanded. As an Important Project of Common European Interest, construction on the plant could begin in…

The Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco) has joined Carbon Hub, a Rice University-led research initiative aimed at speeding up the energy transition by developing sustainable hydrocarbon uses. Carbon Hub, which was established in 2019, advocates for a zero-emission future in which clean hydrogen energy and advanced carbon materials are coproduced efficiently and sustainably from hydrocarbons. Aramco has pledged a $10 million, five-year sponsorship to Carbon Hub. Carbon Hub supports basic science, engineering, and policy research by providing funding and guidance. The goal is to hasten the development and deployment of large-scale technologies that combine the production of clean hydrogen fuel…
P2X Solutions has chosen the German company Sunfire as the supplier of electrolysis equipment for its first production facility, which will be Finland’s first industrial-scale green hydrogen and synthetic methane production plant in Harjavalta. When hydrogen and water are separated in the P2X Solutions electrolysis process, there is no emissions whatsoever. One of the most significant investments in P2X Solutions’ first manufacturing facility is an electrolyser. A rapid transition away from fossil fuels is essential to halting climate change and ensuring energy security. For Finland’s future, P2X Solutions plans to build 1,000 MW of electrolysis capacity by 2031. Industry and…
As part of a project in Norway, Green Hydrogen Systems has signed a deal with Liquiline to supply electrolysis equipment to Dalane Energi. The Port of Egersund and Hydrogen Solutions (HYDS) are both heavily involved in the project. Two GHS HyProvide A90 electrolysers with a combined 0.9 MW capacity will be supplied for the production of green hydrogen from renewable electricity under the terms of the contract at hand. In a 40 ft container, the electrolysers manufactured by Green Hydrogen Systems and operated by Liquiline/Danlane Energi will produce green hydrogen. As part of a three-year service agreement, Green Hydrogen Systems…
The construction of a renewable hydrogen plant in Queensland’s Western Downs is expected to begin within the next six months, according to a statement from the Queensland government. To build the Kogan Renewable Hydrogen Demonstration Plant near Chinchilla, CS Energy has hired IHI Engineering Australia, with plans for a South West Queensland refueling network in the development phase. The government of Palaszczuk will contribute $28.9 million to the cost. When fully operational in 2023, the project will produce 50,000 kilograms of renewable hydrogen per year. The demonstration project includes the co-location of a solar farm, battery, hydrogen electrolyser, hydrogen fuel…
U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito and Joe Manchin, Representative David McKinley, and Governor Jim Justice submitted the West Virginia Hydrogen Hub Working Coalition’s official response to the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) first step in the process to select winning hydrogen hubs funded by the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. “The proposal to participate in the Department of Energy’s Hydrogen Hub submitted today makes the case for something many of us know already: that West Virginia is well-suited to be a national leader in emerging energy production both now and in the future,” Senator Capito said. “Along with a…
The NTPC-Simhadri plant in the Vizag region is working on a 50 kW microgrid pilot project using a standalone fuel cell and an electrolyser to produce green hydrogen. A green hydrogen-based energy storage project will be India’s first.Bloom Energy India Private Limited-Bengaluru has been awarded a 50kW micro-grid pilot project with eletrolyser hydrogen production at NTPC Simhadri by NTPC. The 240kW solid oxide electrolyser would use power from the nearby floating solar project to produce hydrogen. A 50kW solid oxide fuel cell would be used to generate electricity from the hydrogen produced during the day’s rays of light. The system…
Uniper, Germany’s Hydrogenious LOHC, JERA Americas, and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) today announced a joint study agreement (JSA) to investigate hydrogen transportation between the UAE and Germany using Hydrogenious’ Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC) technology. The parties will investigate the possibility of scaling up existing LOHC technology to help meet growing global demand for hydrogen transportation, according to the agreement, which was announced during German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck’s visit to the UAE. Hydrogen is widely recognized as a valuable clean energy source with the potential to meet a large portion…
ATOME Energy has placed a purchase order with CPH2 for a 1MW MFE220 electrolyzer unit, which will be delivered at the end of the year and used in ATOME’s Paraguay mobility project. In addition, CPH2 and ATOME have signed non-binding letters of intent confirming the parties’ mutual intentions to collaborate on potential future orders of electrolyser units for ATOME’s international hydrogen and ammonia projects, as well as to investigate and discuss the possibility of forming a joint venture to produce electrolysers in country to serve the Latin American market using CPH2’s technology and know-how. ATOME has confirmed that it expects…
RWE and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on low-carbon and green hydrogen collaboration. Both companies agreed to look into the possibility of importing low-carbon and green hydrogen, as well as hydrogen derivatives like ammonia, from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). RWE and ADNOC also agreed to evaluate the potential for joint development of green hydrogen and hydrogen derivatives projects in relevant international markets. Markus Krebber, CEO of RWE AG: “I am delighted to announce our MoU with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company to jointly explore the potential for low carbon and…
