EMEC has opened a consultation on the revised decommissioning programme for Magallanes Renovables’ 2 MW ATIR platform. Magallanes has secured support through the Horizon 2020 MaRINET2 programme for the ATIR platform, deployed at EMEC’s Fall of Warness test site, and therefore requested consent from the regulator, Marine Scotland, to extend their testing schedule at EMEC. The public and stakeholders will be able to respond to the consultation until June 9, 2020. Equinor and SSE Renewables, the two companies behind the world’s biggest offshore wind farm Dogger Bank, plan to build a new Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Base at the Port of Tyne. Dogger Bank wind farm is a 50:50 joint venture between Equinor and SSE Renewables. Construction of the wind farm, led by SSE Renewables, began in January 2020 and as operator for the operations phase, Equinor will construct this new O&M base, and operate the wind farm for its expected life of more than 25 years. Siemens Gamesa is progressing with the hybrid energy project located in the Oriental Mindoro province, Philippines, that combines an existing 16MW wind power facility and a battery storage solution with an in-house central control system managing the energy produced at the plant. The supply and commissioning of the project is being carried out by Siemens Gamesa, with construction by a subsidiary of Berkeley Energy. Ameresco is partnering with the State of New Hampshire on an energy savings performance contract (ESPC) that will allow for energy conservation measures at over twenty state facilities throughout New Hampshire’s Seacoast Region. The facilities that will receive energy conservation measures include buildings managed by several state agencies including Fish and Game, Employment Security, Natural and Cultural Resources, Transportation and Administrative Services. Elektroprivreda BiH, Bosnian state-controlled power company, has started construction of the ‘Podveležje 1’ onshore wind farm near the town of Mostar. The wind farm will comprise 15 wind turbines with the estimated annual electricity production of circa 130 GWh. The wind farm is being built by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, Croatia, in a consortium with Wind Power, Denmark. Bosnian companies, HP Investing Mostar and Minersko Sarajevo are building the foundations for the wind turbines, along with conducting mining works for the project. The consortium behind Pembroke Dock Marine has welcomed Total and Simply Blue Energy’s new partnership aimed at developing floating wind projects in the Welsh waters off the Celtic Sea. The agreement sees Total acquire an 80% stake in a joint venture named Blue Gem Wind to develop an initial 96MW project off the Pembrokeshire coast. A new survey by the California Solar and Storage Association (CALSSA) has shown that California solar and storage industry has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic forcing hundreds of local businesses to shed or furlough an estimated 15,000 clean energy jobs. “Our local businesses are suffering greatly due to COVID-19.
