Bosch has added components for hydrogen tank systems, such as tank valves and pressure regulators, to its product portfolio for mobile hydrogen applications. For this, Bosch formed an engineering partnership with OMB Saleri, an Italian specialist, in which the products are jointly developed. According to Bosch, around one out of every eight newly registered commercial vehicles in the world will be powered by a fuel cell by 2030. Bosch and OMB Saleri are hoping that their new partnership for components for hydrogen refueling systems will help them grow their market share in the hydrogen sector. A licensing and engineering agreement…

Gateway Säve, a new development area in Gothenburg, will include myFC’s partner Nilsson Energy, a manufacturer of turnkey plants for hydrogen production. The former Gothenburg City Airport is now being transformed into a business park that focuses on the future of aircrafts, autonomous and fossil-free vehicles, and flexible logistics. “Nilsson Energy ends up in a perfect environment, where there are many opportunities for synergy effects and development potential,” says Michael Glantz, CEO of myFC. Various plans were put into place when Gothenburg City Airport shut down in 2015. Real estate company Castellum purchased the area and began drawing up plans…
DEUTZ AG is introducing a new reporting structure and the segments ‘Classic’ and ‘Green.’ All activities associated with the development and production of new non-diesel drives will be assigned to the Green segment beginning January 1, 2022. This includes electric drives, Torqeedo, and Futavis, a battery management specialist. DEUTZ’s new reporting structure gives the development of hydrogen-powered engines and fuel cells much more visibility. The Classic segment will include activities related to the development, production, sales, and service of diesel engines. Dr. Frank Hiller, CEO of DEUTZ: “The new segmentation of our commercial operations will, above all, provide the capital…
An agreement has been reached between OPITO, a global safety and skills body for the energy industry, and the Acorn Project and Scottish Cluster to develop a blueprint for industrial skilling and reskilling training for the low carbon economy, according to a statement from OPITO. The Scottish Cluster relies on the Acorn Project, developed by Storegga in collaboration with Shell UK and Harbour Energy. Acorn Carbon Capture and Storage (“CCS”) and Acorn Hydrogen are part of its ambitious program, which will use existing offshore gas pipelines landing at the St Fergus gas terminal to quickly and cost-effectively provide access to…
Swedish engineering giant Sandvik has agreed in principle to acquire German firm Gerling GmbH, a precision tube engineering company serving a wide range of markets—including hydrogen production—in the rapidly expanding sector. Hydrogen refueling stations are equipped with high-pressure control technology as part of the solution. Tube, a division of Sandvik Materials Technology, will be reporting on the company. “With this acquisition, Sandvik Materials Technology continues to strengthen its position by increasing its exposure to growing industries with high potential, an important step to become a well-positioned separately listed company,” says Stefan Widing, President and CEO of Sandvik. In the hydrogen…
It has been announced that Zero Petroleum and the Royal Air Force have completed the world’s first flight powered entirely by synthetic aviation fuel. This is the first flight ever to use 100% net-zero synthetic fuel, according to Zero Petroleum and the Royal Air Force.Zero Petroleum is to thank for this. An Ikarus C42 aircraft took to the skies at Cotswold Airport, where it was awarded the Guinness World Record for “first aircraft powered by synthetic fuel.” The mission is the first step in a joint effort to eliminate the RAF’s entire fuel consumption. Synthetic fuel from Zero Petroleum is…
The German company H2FLY has ordered a total of MSEK 7.2 from PowerCell Sweden. Ordered fuel cell systems are to be delivered in the first quarter of 2022, according to a release. The German start-up of hydrogen aviation It is owned and operated by H2FLY, which made its first flight in 2016 with the HY4 aircraft. Hydrogen electric powertrains for AirTaxi, General Aviation, and Regional Aircraft are the company’s goal. When developing aviation hydrogen-electric powertrains, H2FLY will use P System 100 fuel cell systems. “The interest in hydrogen-electric solutions is growing quickly within the aviation industry and PowerCell has received…
bp and Aberdeen Harbour have agreed to implement a range of zero-emission technologies to reduce the port’s carbon footprint, including hydrogen. In order to achieve zero-emissions in the maritime industry, the use of hydrogen is essential. Hydrogen provides vessels with significant clean power. Hydrogen could also be used to power various port operations in an effort to further decarbonize the area, not just the port itself. As part of bp’s efforts to establish Aberdeen as a key zero-emissions region, this deal is just the latest step in the energy giant’s plan to use hydrogen as a key component. Aberdeen City…
A hydrogen refinery with zero emissions is currently being planned and developed by Environmental Clean Technologies (ECT) in Victoria’s Latrobe Valley. In the Latrobe Valley area, ECT is developing a groundbreaking new project that will produce clean hydrogen, agricultural char, and other valuable products with a net-zero emission footprint. Core technology from ECT’s Coldry system will enable an integrated operating plant to process raw materials. Incoming lignite and biomass streams will be dewatered, dried, and fed into the thermochemical decarbonization process (partial pyrolysis), which produces two major product streams: a hydrogen-rich syngas, which also contains other valuable industrial gases for…
His Excellency One of the most prominent members of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has launched a new global renewable energy and green hydrogen venture with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), as well as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC (TAQA). A total of 30 Gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy will be generated by Abu Dhabi’s two energy giants by 2030, putting the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Abu Dhabi at the forefront of the energy transition and advancing…
