H2 Industries and the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) have signed a memorandum of understanding. President of SCZone Yehia Zaki and Michael Stusch, CEO of H2 Industries, signed a memorandum of understanding to build a waste-to-green-fuel plant in the East Port Said region with a production capacity of 300,000 tons of green hydrogen per year. This is one of the sectors targeted by the authority as part of the Egyptian government’s strategy to transition to a green economy, as well as Egypt’s hosting of the COP27 Climate Change Summit in November. Stusch, for one, stated that the establishment of this…
Actuation Lab has been awarded a £218,000 contract by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy to address one of the biggest issues holding back the sustainable transition to hydrogen after extensive R&D work in the flow control sector. Leakage of hydrogen is a serious problem for the hydrogen supply chain because hydrogen leaks much faster than natural gas, which is estimated to lose 80 million tonnes per year to the atmosphere. We can’t sustainably transition to hydrogen use at scale without some clever innovation in the equipment used to distribute it, because hydrogen has a low ignition energy…
Stargate Hydrogen and Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) have agreed to collaborate on the development of a new generation electrolyzer. Green hydrogen can now be produced more efficiently and cheaply than before thanks to the new device. Three TalTech researchers have already begun the first phase of the project, which is the synthesis of nanoceramic materials, at the TalTech Institute of Materials and Environmental Technology. The electrolyzer’s core is made up of the synthesized materials. The company’s electrolyzers do not require precious metals to produce hydrogen and are extremely efficient, producing green hydrogen at a lower cost than it is…
Fusion Fuel Green and Toshiba Energy Systems and Solutions Corporation have agreed to pursue technical and commercial opportunities in the fast-growing green hydrogen sector. Fusion Fuel will test Toshiba ESS membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) in its proprietary Proton-Exchange Membrane (PEM) eletrolyzers as part of this collaboration. MEAs are a key component of PEM electrolyzers, and the ones Toshiba ESS is working on are highly cost-effective and require far less catalyst than traditional solutions. Furthermore, Toshiba ESS plans to expand sales of Fusion Fuel’s PEM electrolyzers in Australia and other countries by leveraging local sales channels it has established in areas…
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has awarded ITM Power a contract under its Net Zero Innovation Portfolio Low Carbon Hydrogen Supply 2 Competition to accelerate the commercial deployment and manufacture of ITM Power’s 5 MW Gigastack platform. The £9.3 million award for the Gigatest project follows the development of initial designs through previous BEIS funding competitions. The Group’s technology roadmap revolves around the 5 MW Gigastack platform. With the completion of a feasibility study funded by the BEIS Low Carbon Hydrogen Supply Competition, development began in 2019. The BEIS Low Carbon Hydrogen Supply Competition funded a…
Poseidon Marine H2 plans to use their hydrogen-powered boat as a proof of concept to secure a series of industrial deals after signing a partnership with a team of world-class engineers. Directors are already in discussions with major boat manufacturers with whom they have business relationships to form offtake agreements, and they plan to pursue public contracts with defense forces, law enforcement agencies, and ferry operators around the world. The directors will use their experience winning international tenders for both large-scale government and private projects in a variety of engineering sectors to speed up this process. The company plans to…
H2 Clipper and Foundation for the Development of New Hydrogen expand collaboration in Spain
The Foundation for the Development of New Hydrogen Technologies in Aragon, Spain, has signed a collaboration agreement with H2 Clipper. The agreement’s goal is to create a framework for proving the viability of H2 Clipper’s hydrogen transportation and distribution technologies, such as the patented Pipeline-In-The-Sky and Pipe-Within-A-Pipe. During a formal ceremony at the Foundation’s facilities on May 16, 2022, Foundation President Arturo Aliaga Lopez and H2 Clipper Founder and CEO Rinaldo Brutoco signed the agreement. H2 Clipper and the Foundation will collaborate with the goal of advancing solutions to decarbonize the EU’s extensive natural gas grid. Conduct an independent analysis…
Aker Horizons will collaborate with UiT The Arctic University of Norway’s (UiT) Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology (IVT faculty) to develop the skills and competencies needed for future green industrial jobs through its wholly owned subsidiary Aker Narvik. The partnership is part of Aker Horizons’ development of a green industrial hub in Narvik, Norway, where UiT’s IVT faculty offers several engineering programs. Aker Horizons and its portfolio companies, in collaboration with local industry, are developing green value chains and sustainable export industries in the Narvik region, leveraging their capabilities in hydrogen and renewable energy. UiT’s mission is to provide…
The results of a unique hydrogen powertrain technology concept feasibility study conducted by British Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) and Viritech to develop a new e-Mono have been released. The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles awarded Viritech a Niche Vehicle Network Feasibility Study grant to conduct research into developing a hydrogen powertrain for niche vehicle applications. The e-Mono concept was developed in collaboration with Liverpool-based BAC, makers of the renowned Mono supercar. It follows BAC’s principles of uncompromising performance and driver experience. One of the most difficult aspects of converting a 555kg Mono supercar to zero-emissions is maintaining its ultra-lightweight, especially…
Golden Energy Offshore and Gen2 Energy explore use of hydrogen-based fuels for vessels
Golden Energy Offshore and Gen2 Energy have signed a letter of intent to share experience and information on the use of hydrogen-based fuel types for various vessels. The companies will also work on the identification of suitable locations for the availability of alternative hydrogen-based fuel types. Golden Energy Offshore has a green profile and is actively seeking environmentally friendly solutions. The company has held ISO 50001 Energy Management, ISO 9001 Quality Management, ISO 14001 Environmental Management, and OHSAS 18001 (ISO 45001) Health and Safety Management certifications for many years.
