A network of 13 regional hydrogen technology clusters has been unveiled across Australia as part of a drive to establish a nationwide hydrogen cluster. With $1.85 million to be invested in the clusters, the network will foster a multi-billion dollar, globally competitive hydrogen industry. Spearheaded by NERA, the national cluster (which would operate as a virtual network) will establish a global identity and a recognized brand for Australian hydrogen technology and expertise. Loop Energy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Commercial Agreement with ECUBES – a developer of hydrogen electric systems for stationary power applications based in Slovenia, Europe. The agreement contemplates deliveries in excess of fifty Loop Energy eFlow fuel cell modules to ECUBES over a two-year period. Gebrüder Weiss has added a hydrogen truck to its fleet of vehicles. The first turbine at Vattenfall’s Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm is in place and will deliver the first fossil-free electricity shortly. It will be the largest offshore wind farm in Denmark. Tekmar Energy has secured a contract from cable manufacturer Prysmian Group to supply its Generation 10 TekTube Cable Protection System (CPS) for the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm in the UK. The 450MW NnG project, jointly owned by EDF Renewables and ESB, is located in the Firth of Forth, Scotland. Once complete the project has the potential to generate enough renewable energy to supply power to around 375,000 Scottish homes. Aemetis’ “Carbon Zero” biofuels production plants are designed to produce biofuels, including renewable jet fuel utilizing renewable hydrogen and non-edible vegetable oils sourced from existing Aemetis biofuels plants and other sources. The Aemetis “Carbon Zero 1” plant in Riverbank, California is expected to utilize hydroelectric and other renewable power available onsite to produce 25 million gallons per year of jet fuel, renewable diesel, and other byproducts. The H24All project, led by a consortium of fifteen partners, has presented an application for European Green Deal funding to develop Europe’s first 100 megawatt (MW) alkaline electrolyzer plant which will be connected to a Repsol industrial site. The consortium aims to pave the way for a new and competitive hydrogen industry based on European know-how through innovation by developing, building, operating, and demonstrating the sustainability of a 100 MW high-pressure alkaline electrolyzer.
