As it expands its downstream presence in Asia, Aramco is looking into further collaboration with Thailand’s national oil company, PTT. The companies want to improve their collaboration in sourcing crude oil and marketing refining and petrochemical products, as well as liquefied natural gas (LNG). Blue and green hydrogen, as well as various clean energy initiatives, are other potential areas of activity. Ibrahim Al-Buainain, Aramco Vice President Sales, Trading and Supply Planning, said: “Today represents an important step forward as we deepen and broaden this relationship to achieve greater cooperation across a wide range of activities, from sourcing crude oil and…
The Chemours Company participates in a fundraising campaign for Versogen, a leader in the development of anion exchange membrane (AEM) technology for use in hydrogen production based in Wilmington, Delaware. Versogen’s AEM technology, developed by University of Delaware professor Yushan Yan, provides a reliable and cost-effective way to produce green hydrogen at scale. Green hydrogen is the most promising alternative fuel for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in transportation and other fossil-fuel-dependent industries. Large amounts of green hydrogen can be produced with zero emissions when produced using water electrolysis and renewable energy. This procedure is necessary for the clean energy transition…
Through the sale of its Dutch interests to Volt Energy BV, Vision Hydrogen Corporation has monetized its 100% interest in its Vlissingen green hydrogen development project and its 50% interest in its Terneuzen green hydrogen development project. The purchaser paid a total consideration of USD $23,6 million, consisting of USD $11,2 million in cash and 1,768,182 shares of the company’s common stock valued at the current market price of $7.00 per share, bringing the total number of outstanding common shares to 19,548,776. Before transaction costs, the cash proceeds realized by the company represent a payment of approximately $0.58 cents per…
In order to provide a decarbonization solution for French and European rail freight, Hydrogène de France and Captrain France, a subsidiary of SNCF, signed a partnership agreement for the development of hydrogen locomotives. The HyShunt project, a retrofit project of a locomotive currently powered by a diesel engine, will be the first step in HDF Energy and Captrain’s collaboration. This locomotive will be retrofitted with a decarbonized electric propulsion system powered by green or low-carbon hydrogen, via a high-powered fuel cell system manufactured and integrated by HDF Energy, with a power output of around 700 kW. In France today, rail…
Since its launch five weeks ago, Emirates Team New Zealand has been commissioning and testing their hydrogen-powered foiling chase boat ‘Chase Zero’ on Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf.
Aotearoa New Zealand could produce more green hydrogen if it finds new storing solutions
The Aotearoa New Zealand goal of zero emissions by 2050 creates a sense of urgency and pressure to produce enough green hydrogen and store it safely for the future.
The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Shell, the City of Houston, Greentown Labs, and the Urban Future Lab (UFL) at NYU Tandon School of Engineering have unveiled the participation of seven startups in the Low-Carbon Hydrogen Accelerator (LCHA).
Combining hydrogen with battery energy storage could result in zero-emission fire engine
Zero-emission battery electric fire tenders, when combined with hydrogen fuel cells and a minimum of 8 kg of onboard hydrogen fuel storage, will meet today’s demands for flexibility, emergency response, and water pumping. This will be especially useful in rural and semi-urban services, as well as for specialist HGVs with power take-offs, where batteries alone will not meet the application’s overall energy needs. That is the conclusion of ULEMCo, the hydrogen fuel pioneer, who collaborated on the study with Oxfordshire County Council and its Fire and Rescue Service. The findings are significant not only for the deployment of fully operational…
IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) has installed a new 210 kW test bench for fuel-cell systems on its Lyon site through its IFPEN Transports Energie Carnot Institute. IFPEN hopes to accelerate its research into the use of hydrogen-powered fuel cells in electric vehicles, particularly for heavy road vehicles (trucks and coaches) and the rail sector, with this experimental tool, which is the only one of its kind in France. In electric vehicles, using hydrogen to power a fuel cell that generates electricity is an intriguing alternative to using batteries. A fuel cell can reduce the size of an electric vehicle’s battery…
Queensland is powering ahead in the new global renewable energy era, taking another significant step towards exporting green hydrogen to Europe’s largest port. Minister for Energy, Renewables and Hydrogen Mick de Brenni said a Memorandum of Understanding has now been signed with the Port of Rotterdam in The Netherlands to collaborate on opportunities to develop a hydrogen export supply chain. “This landmark agreement is another ringing endorsement of Queensland’s quest to be a green hydrogen superpower,” he said. “The Port of Rotterdam has a target to import up to 20 million tonnes of hydrogen by 2050, starting with imports of…
