Longroad Energy has reached the financial close and sale of the Muscle Shoals solar project, a 294 MWdc project located in Colbert County, Alabama. Ørsted, the global renewable energy company, acquired the project at financial closing. Clean Power Alliance (CPA) has approved the Azalea Solar plus Storage project. Azalea is the fourth renewable energy and storage project approved by CPA in the last three months, which will collectively result in $410 million in new investment in Southern California’s clean energy economy. All four projects will help CPA meet the State of California’s SB 100 renewable energy targets as well as the high renewable energy demand of CPA’s customers. Vestas has secured a service agreement for the Croatian wind energy project Orjak in northern Croatia from VJETROELEKTRANA ORJAK, a daughter company of ECOwind Handels-und Wartungs-GmbH, which is a subsidiary of global renewable energy developer BayWa. SSE Renewables is seeking consent for the next phase of its Firth of Forth offshore wind farms, Berwick Bank and Marr Bank. DTE Electric has received approval from the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) for a plan to keep electric rates unchanged from today until 2022. The company’s Renewable Energy Plan was also approved by the Commission. Following a 12-week moratorium on service interruptions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and $30-40 million bill reduction for electric customers in June and July, the regulatory plan maintains current electric rates to help customers as they recover from the pandemic. Hellenic Cables has secured a contract by Seaway 7, the renewables business unit of Subsea 7, to supply 66kV inter-array cables and accessories for the Seagreen offshore wind farm. Under the contract, Hellenic Cables will design, manufacture, test and supply approximately 320 km of 66 kV XLPE-insulated inter-array cables and associated accessories. Nautilus Solar Energy has acquired 15.1 MW community solar development portfolio from SGC Power. The six projects are located across five counties and three separate utility territories in Maryland, and will produce enough energy to power 3,300 subscribing households in the region. Naval Energies has joined the DeepWind offshore wind cluster as part of its strategy to offer floating wind technology into the Scottish market. CorPower is establishing a research and development, manufacturing and service centre for wave energy converters in Viana do Castelo, northern Portugal, with a €16 million investment plan.
