Plug Power will construct a 35-ton-per-day green hydrogen generation plant in the heart of Europe, at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges. Plug signed a 30-year concession agreement to construct the plant at the second-largest port in Europe, located in Belgium. On 28 acres of leased property, Plug intends to construct a 100-megawatt green hydrogen plant utilizing its own electrolyzer and liquefaction technologies. Plug will supply the European market with up to 12,500 tons of liquid and gaseous green hydrogen per year. The construction of the facility will commence following completion of the permitting procedure, which is scheduled to occur in late…

As demand rises to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, an increasing number of businesses are rearranging their fleets to comply. Reuters reported on Wednesday that global retail giant Walmart Inc would expand their transportation trials with manufacturers of electric, hydrogen, and natural gas-powered vehicles. Walmart, the largest retailer in the world, revealed an ambitious ambition to achieve zero emissions by 2040 in 2020. The retailer’s overall objective includes utilizing 100 percent renewable energy to power its facilities by 2035, and eliminating all emissions from its fleet by 2040, including around 10,000 tractors and 80,000 trailers. Walmart is not the only corporation…

This month, the SamTrans Board of Directors resolved to replace thirty diesel buses with twenty battery electric buses (BEB) and ten hydrogen-fuel cell electric buses (FCEB). This purchase helps accelerate the planned fleet conversion by SamTrans from 2038 to 2034. SamTrans will introduce a mix of BEB and FCEB at the launch of its Zero Emission Bus (ZEB) fleet deployment in order to evaluate how the two technologies operate under different situations, which routes they serve best, and what infrastructure is required to satisfy their needs. SamTrans will ultimately establish a strategy to convert the entire fleet to ZEB by…

The Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials IFAM in Dresden has created a hydrogen storage paste. The institute refers to the substance as “power paste.” Researchers believe that their paste has a high energy density and is ideal for all types of vehicles, from electric scooters to automobiles. According to Fraunhofer IFAM, the solid magnesium hydride-based power paste should enable the chemical storage and release of hydrogen at room temperature and ambient pressure. Due to the fact that the power paste decomposes at approximately 250 degrees Celsius, there are no concerns if, for instance, a paste-coated scooter is…

Anti-Russian sanctions make Europe look for new energy sources, one of which is hydrogen. In the future, a partial transition to it is possible, but it will not completely replace gas. Dmitry Koptev, an expert of the Institute for the Development of Fuel and Energy Complex Technologies (IRTTEK), told about it. “If we talk about combustion of gas and hydrogen in furnaces of TPPs and household appliances, technologically this process differs only in requirements for equipment,” Koptev noted in a conversation with Prime news agency. In addition to the adjustment of burners, as explained by the interlocutor of the agency,…
