The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) announced nearly $4.7 million in funding for six projects to advance the development of ceramic-based materials to enhance the efficiency of hydrogen-fueled turbines that may one day be used in clean power plants. The goal of the Biden-Harris Administration is to achieve a zero-carbon U.S. electricity sector by 2035. Carbon capture and storage prior to combustion will help achieve this goal. “Investing in research and development to increase hydrogen turbine efficiency will not only help bring down electricity costs, but can ultimately help to ramp up…

The EU program Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) provided funding for the “GREATER4H” hydrogen infrastructure project. The primary objective of the project is to facilitate the transition of heavy-duty road transport from diesel to hydrogen across the borders of Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. The new hydrogen infrastructure will allow diesel trucks to be phased out by 2025, as well as other hydrogen-powered vehicles to recharge on the network. The STRING secretariat is pleased to announce that money has been awarded to the GREATER4H project. Between Hamburg and Oslo, the three private partners GP Joule, Everfuel, and Hynion will construct hydrogen…

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the German authorities wanted to make a big boom in the hydrogen industry as part of the program to fight climate change. However, such an innovation will be quite problematic to introduce into the inter-fuel sector due to the high cost and unexplored nature of the issue. This opinion was expressed by Vyacheslav Kulagin, Director of the Center for Global Energy Market Studies, to the Vechernyaya Moskva. Hydrogen is such a top topic of the last few years. For Europeans, it is a way to balance consumption in the abandonment of fossil fuels. Hydrogen…
